Yeah this bloke is definitely not making the first team, Great name though

I do find it incredible how we have not had a single centre half come through at the club since Adams and Keown 40 years ago
Keep an eye on Marli Salmon and Patrick Stachow. Onyekachukwu has looked quite good when I've seen him aswell. Also we just brought in Callan Hamill for next scholarship batch.

Very good prospect along with Callan Hamill (signing in the Summer), Josh Tahou and Patrick Stachow.

Salmon looks the business though. Poised despite his age.

Could we finally produce a CB? Playing as CB for the U21 at 15 is crazy. Very different from being an attacker.

He's definitely the highest rated one we've produced for a minute. Part of a group that are performing really well at this level and not the only promising defender either.

That said, his progression has been really impressive. He's got really good poise and anticipation. Can be a little rash in his movements but he's got great instincts for a defender and is really good on the ball too.

Another who once was promising but it just never came together for him.

Callan Hamill seemingly confirmed. Got to watch him play for us at the Flamengo tournament and he was very impressive. Locked down arguably the best winger in the tournament and did so comfortably. Another CB/RB hybrid. Quick in short spaces, good anticipation and good in possession. Big potential IMO. Him and Salmon on the same side could be very strong.

Well.....

And Jeorge Bird, typically conservative in his projections had this to say earlier:

So while we're in a bit of a transitional phase this year, next year's older age academy teams (u18 and u21) could be more successful as some of our u16 talents finally progress to u18.

We do still have our Youth Cup game vs United but I think they'll beat us. They have our star striker from last year, and a lot of their players are pretty experienced at this level while our U18 team is talented but still a little green in areas. My hope is that we can surprise them with the pace of our attack. Dowman will also be key.

I was really impressed with this guy in the Flamengo Cup. Look a solid right back and can play ball too. good size for his age and definitely one to watch. Let's see what he can do at u18 level.

Yeah he played well int he Flamengo Cup. I think he was playing CB. I was actually impressed with all our defenders as they were not only good on the ball but showed great determination and aggression.

It seems that the youth revamp was going to be from schoolboy level onwards. Good plan to be honest. Get them young and hungry and moving through the ranks quicker if they impress at youth level with the ultimate goal of training with the first team. We really should have been doing this witht he younger age groups a while back.

It seems at the time we had waaay too many overraged U21's who should have been moved on but were still around for one reason or another. We've actually addressed that in the last few seasons If we can integrate the younger players into the first team setup quicker, as we are doing now, then we could have a very healthy production line which will generate money for us as well as supplement our first team squad.

And this is exactly what we should be doing. with the young schoolboy level;players. Reward them for their performances in training and in matches with training with the first team squad. If I was one of these players I'd be saying to my teammates "let's see who can train with the first team the most times this season".

Brando was outstanding at the Flamengo Cup so hopefully this is a regular occurrence.

This is exciting...

Marli Salmon has started last couple u21 games aswell, including the 4-1 win vs Newcastle tonight. Some good defensive prospects there.

Been impressed with him this season and I thought he was really good vs United on Friday despite the loss. Really like him as a #6, seems to keep it mostly safe but I've seen some real moments of personality and great passing from him. Could be a defensive midfield prospect to look out for. Thought he did OK in terms of looking out for the younger, less experienced Murisa aswell (Murisa himself being a promising #6 in a similar vein).

Arsenal Quotes

My first ever football memory was Charlie George's double winning goal in 71. After that game; I just became an Arsenal fan.
