Arsenal U15 took part in the Premier League U15 international youth tournament this weekend. We were knocked out by the eventual winners Chelsea this morning in the semi-finals losing 1-0. Chelsea beat Man City in the final who beat Bayern Munich in their semi-final match.

Chelsea had decent experience in their team. Reggie Watson looks a real star for them in particular. He's already played u18s.

Us meanwhile had u13s and u14s playing up as usual! Bodes well in terms of individual talent but as ever, does mean occasionally we don't win these tournaments. We did win this last season though IIRC. Brando Bailey-Joseph won POTM aswell.

Yeah, we did really well to get to the semi-finals.. I do think the formula is right with blooding your best crop into higher age groups. You churn out players earlier and quicker that way. Looks like the focus is to get players in externally at the younger ages. It also gives more time for them to adapt to our playing style..

Yeah, it ensures we don't have the issues that Chelsea currently have with losing some of their best talents lately. McAidoo and Ngohuma leaving is probably still a bit of a blow. Not that we haven't lost some of ours (Heaven & Chido) but - other than Cozier-Duberry and possibly Walters - we didn't lose them because of a lack of pathway.

Even going beyond Dowman, guys like Marli Salmon playing U21 football even before Dowman; Brando Bailey-Joseph becoming an U18 regular as an U15; Zecevic-John, Ibrahim, Julienne and Annous all playing at the same time as Chido Obi's wonder-season and they were all U16s etc. All our best guys were moved up early.

Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
Seem training with Rice making Dowman taking the leader role in our youth squads. players will still respect him despite his young age because he super talent

Ceadach O'Neill signed a professional deal today. Any good @MutableEarth ?
Yes he's talented, a good attacking player. Good technical player, pretty direct and does have an eye for a finish too. Someone we can flip for decent profit if we can develop him properly. Can see him becoming a squad player for us at max potential. Think he's a little overshadowed by the fact we have Louis Zecevic-John AND Brando Bailey-Joseph around the same time. If we lose the likes of Casey and co, can see him transitioning to attacking midfield as he does have good creative instincts - and even then, likes of Hashi coming up probably have a bit more in that department.

Nonetheless, he's had a very good season for us and I think he's a worthy player in our academy.

Arsenal Quotes

In 1997/98 we became English champions as I had set myself three missions to carry out which I felt were essential. One: to have an impact on the result and the team's playing style. Two: to foster the player's individual development. Three: to strengthen the structure of the club and enhance its global influence.
