Chelsea managed to keep hold of Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and Ibrahim Rabbaj, once again proving that - outside of Ngumoha and McAidoo - Chelsea can still keep prospects en masse regardless of pathway.

Meanwhile, at Arsenal.....

Classic stuff. Never change!

Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
Lots of u16s played. Emerson Nwaneri started this game lol.

Chickens coming home to roost immediately after Pers announcement is poetic.
I think to me results or where you finish doesn't matter to me much in youth level. At the end of the day its all about developing

What important to me is our loan system need to get better with that where young players get the real chance to play at more advanced level but if we keep sending them to bad loans they just stuck even if they won't make it here at least we can sell them

Yeah like, I'm not that bothered we lost this game, at least I never watched it. I take the result into context - vastly experienced Liverpool u21 team beats depleted Arsenal team without Salmon, Dowman, Ibrahim, Annous and starts with Nduka and Nwaneris little brother on their debuts.

The real damning indictment is that apart from the aforementioned u16 midfielders (and maybe Josh Nichols only slightly), there's nobody from that XI who have a hope of making it here. So a loss like that doesn't come as a surprise to me.

Good work is being done pre-U18 (particularly Michael Donaldsons work with the u16s) but we need to make good on it once they get to Colney. Overhaul post-u18s is needed.

On a very bad weekend for both youth teams, at least one person's stock rose. Poorly platformed, still manages to dig out a decent showing. Really need another match winning performance to boost his chances.

He's got a good physical size and may still grow a bit more. Let's see how he does over the next 18 months.
I've really enjoyed his dribbling aswell. Reminds me a little of previous RBs like Dan Oyegoke and Brooke Norton-Cuffy. I need to see a bit more of his passing and what he can do in central areas. There was one really excellent passage I saw earlier in the season that boded very well. One to watch, especially as RB seems to be a position higher on the agenda for replenishment.

Norton Cuffy and Oyegoke are both now in the Serie A so hopefully he can get to a similar level.

We have a decent record at developing right backs at youth level recently. Zak Swanson is doing well at Portsmouth and Ryan Alebiosu has been Blackburns best player and just went Afcon with Nigeria. Next step is actually getting a good fee for some of these players. Chelsea would of got about 15 million for Norton Cuffy minimum . We got 3.5 plus a sell on fee.

Josh Nichols is pretty handy aswell. If he were at least 5'9 he'd have a shot here. Very versatile set of skills.

Nichols is someone I'm hoping we could get a loan move for in this window (maybe after the kairat game where he could get minutes). I just don't really see how spending the rest of the season in the u21s benefits him at this point. I dont think it helps players like King either who could start getting more minutes at a higher level if Nichols leaves on loan

Arsenal Quotes

An Arsenal fan, when you finish fourth, will say, “Hey, we’ve been in the top four for twenty years. We want to win the league!”. They don’t care that Manchester City or Chelsea have spent 300 or 400 million euros. They just want to beat them.
But if you finish fifteenth two years running, they will be happy if you finish fourth after that.
