blaming Wenger for not immediately calling out the Presidents new scheme is beyond stupid and personally vindictive. Can’t imagine what you’re getting out of it.

Yeah, it is beyond stupid, because it's a made up argument people aren't making here.

Also, to be really ****ing clear before anyone goes ballistic: Wenger isn't being blamed. Some people - including myself - are disappointed that he didn't do more than he did. Why? Because the man's character and career made me expect more. It is a compliment to his reputation, not a criticism.

Regardless, no one was asking for Wenger to stand at the front of an anti-Infantino movement, but when the facts became so obvious and out in the open that even UEFA and CONMEBOL were taking drastic actions, that would have been a good time for him to make his feelings on the issue known.

Again, no one here is blaming him, but it is entirely justifiable to feel a sense of disappointed that a man who is known for being better than average was just simply average on this issue.

He has reacted week after the Infantino's investment plana has been released and he claims that he didn't know about it before it was released in press.
I don't see what more could he do.

A week after Infantino's investment plan was first released, the Frenchman issued a statement through Fifa in which he demanded "transparency and integrity" from the body.

"The recent events at Fifa deserve some clarity from my side," Wenger's statement read.

"I was not involved in this strategic plan and first became aware of the project through media reports.

"The decision to withdraw the project was absolutely necessary and beyond question, because I firmly believe in an independent Fifa that serves our game with commitment, transparency, and integrity."

No you’re wrong. Wenger IS being blamed by some people in the media (and on here). People even suggesting that it was his scheme all along.

And even though he has criticised the scheme publicly, manufacturing ‘disappointment’ because he didn’t do it by some arbitary date in your head is not only contrived but incredibly sanctimonious.

Some just need any excuse to critise him.

Makingtrax lives inside of Wengers intestines. There's no talking to him.

The media, yes. The English media - mainly the right wing rags of course but it goes beyond that - have always had it out for him and we know that. I'm not arguing against that and I agree that directly targeting Wenger and literally blaming him for this whole thing is absurd.

On here, I literally cannot see anyone blaming Wenger for this debacle. Actually, I did find one, but I had to click the show posts from ignored members to read it, which isn't surprising.

And even though he has criticised the scheme publicly, manufacturing ‘disappointment’ because he didn’t do it by some arbitary date in your head is not only contrived but incredibly sanctimonious.

It's not manufactured disappointed. Wenger is one of the greats of the sports and has always stood for his values. Him simply doing what is to be expected of a FIFA suit is disappointing because his history gives you the hope he would rise above that a bit.

To be clear, I am by no means insinuating Wenger has been any worse than every other FIFA official below Infantino in this thing. I just expected him to be a bit better than them, that's all, and the fact that he did the bare minimum here was disappointing to me.

I said it in my post. Ideally he would've made a statement when the facts became so obvious that UEFA decided to boycott FIFA competitions. They didn't make that decision lightly and it was obvious to the entire world that Infantino was doing some villainous **** that was now out in the open.

Making a statement after the whole thing has been abandoned - and the statement itself essentially just being "Wasn't me, had no clue, good thing they didn't go through with it" - just felt a bit weak from a guy whose entire legacy is built around the integrity of the game.

Hence it's a bit disappointing to me. I don't really understand why that's so offensive to some people here, I'm quite literally disappointed because I respect him enough to expect more.

Doesn’t even make sense. And you used to talk to me a lot in your Wenger bashing days. At least then you had the decency to @ me, you weasel.
Why would I @you. I've nothing to add to the conversation that hasn't been said 10,000 times. Your goat is washed. There's no redeeming him. I'd even go a mile further and say Arteta> Wenger.

😲 When he gets 3 titles, 7 FA Cups and an invincibles year on half his transfer budget get back to me on that one and we can chew the cud over a pint of Irish Guinness.
