Bad deal, but our hands are tied. The board know we aren't competing for top 4 with Xhaka as a starting CM. Roma know they're the only interested party, and if we don't accept there's a serious risk of us being stuck with him next season.

Without Xhaka leaving we can't bring in a Neves/Bissouma etc so let's just get this done and move on.

He had one offer from the mighty Hertha Berlin. Nobody other then our delusional fanbase ever thought of him as anything more than a mid-table player
We are mid table team as we finished 8th twice and he has always been a starter here and would be next season ahead of lokongo

Xhaka wanted out (and from all we know has wanted this for a while. We first heard about it from the coaches when he was injured). There's no rush or any indication that we wanted to sell him, especially in this window.

If it was and we wanted to *transform our midfield* we wouldn't be looking at like-for-likes (Neves, Koopheimer, Locatelli)

thank you, they want to paint this picture the club is unhappy with xhaka and what he brings to the club. When we begged him when fans turned on him. He stayed with the promise he could gotta hell out of here and he is willing to take significant wage cut just to leave. And we are searching for the next xhaka....thats how much of an impression he made on Arsenal. Fans always downplay players when they want to leave. And by all means lokonga looks like his replacement

Hard to understand how come no other club wants Xhaka despite his excellent Euros...

Clubs like Milan, Napoli or even German clubs should be all over him. Very weird.

Might be the player himself having indicated that he wants Roma. Some of those quotes seemed to lean that way.

Imagine Sturridge with our medical team back then? He would have been another Rosicky/Diaby type we saw once a year.
Tbf, 2013 sturridge was injury free. If he came here and scored 21 goals for us like he did for pool the following season, We'd have won the league in 2014 easily. I guaranty he'd have scored more than that amount because he'd have had guys like Santi, Wilshere, Ramsey etc creating chances for him

We know he rejected another italian club already. Probably rejected others as well.

Main reason is probably that Mourinho already buttered him up for a while. And when Mou left Tottenham (and the prem) that became the opportunity and when his mind went.

I love how just having one great game has made people come up with the notion that he had 'excellent' Euro

Plus clubs have seen him be awful for us for five years

Terrible deal. This regime has operated so poorly in terms of signings, loans and now sales, it’s unbelievable. It’s bad deal after bad deal.
It's the level of incompetence you'd expect when we've got rookies running the club.
