And he was the weak link in the attack and will be upgraded on. This club moving away from continuing with players who aren't good enough to win the biggest trophies is a good thing. He had 1 good season out of 7 and yet we have people acting like Zidane is leaving. He can and I suspect will be improved upon and what you and all the other folks whining about this fail to realize when you ask why he's not being kept as a backup is that maybe HE doesn't want to stay and be a backup. We should not be appeasing players who can be improved upon by handing them starts when there are better options nor should we be upset if said players don't want to remain here to be rotational rather than starters. That's why I stress that this deal probably works out best for BOTH parties. At the end of the summer, if it looks like our depth is inadequate then moan then, not before he's even left and before we've even started our business.

Just stating the reality. Its not an emotional equation. We already know we will replace Xhaka with Rice. We need two players at 8 if Xhaka leaves, so we’ll see how this all works out. The smart move is to convince Xhaka to stay and take a new role. He is a known quantity.

Hard to argue with such unassailable and tangible evidence based logic. And I thought Bat-Mite was formidable.

I’ve been growing more and more in confidence that Granit is staying. That would be great but it’s not enough for me though. I want to see him given a big new contract.

Told you he was staying. Bergman’s still here. I think that we need another starter at 8 though, but I can see Xhaka getting plenty of time.

I’m not in the know. All I know is he agreed a contract with Bayer Leverkusen months ago and he told everybody he knows well that he’s leaving. But he also agreed a contract with Hertha Berlin and with Roma on different occasions yet ended up staying.
I think (or hope) he lets everyone know he’s leaving then he’s like ‘if you want me stop me’. Act first speak later.

I can’t see the club letting both Partey and Xhaka go. They seem like they’re actively trying to sell Partey, who seems more likely of the two to leave.

If Xhaka stays he is a starter. People are only talking about his defensive qualities now. Went underrated during the season. It was always “imagine if x player was in this position etc”. Xhaka knows Arteta’s system inside out and it takes a lot of intelligence to play his role.

If we keep him, and TP5. With Rice, Havertz, Lavia, Timber coming in. I think we can win the league next season.

Doable as well, there is space in the squad for all that. Assuming we sell Elneny and Holding.

Xhaka is staying. Arteta will not let him go. I am confident enough to say it now. Rice is Partey’s replacement and Havertz will play in attack, not Xhaka’s position (though he might on occasion). Considering the lack of links to a midfielder of Xhaka’s profile (other than Gundogan who is now gone), I think Xhaka will stay!
And I will get the party gifs out!
