Italian teams can’t pay upfront, so a loan with an option to buy probably suits them. Didn’t they do the same with Chris Smalling too?
The management at our club are fools and will probably take it.

I understand Roma has a reason to ask us for loan. But we have absolutely no reason to send him on loan. It is either pay the money and buy him or he stays back. He is not on high wages too.

Smalling wasn’t wanted at Utd, so a loan made sense for everyone. Xhaka is a starter here.

Deal progressing very well deal could be reached in coming days. only problem that we want 25M put roma willing to go 15M plus add-ons but both parties are working for deal to be reached.
Seem to me we not trying to waste time and just try let him go as quick as possible that tell me big overhaul in midfield coming. good start.

Xhaka will be tough to replace and was looking decent next to Partey, but he has ultimately failed here and doesnt totally suit the PL or our style.
He is 28 years old approaching 29 and has 2 years left on his deal. You either sell now sell or offer yet another player a contract well into his 30's.... I know which one I pick.
