Partey, Xhaka and some kid from Belgium is an upgrade from last season?

Criminal post.

Obviously, we didn't have Partey for half a season and when we did he still didn't look fit. We are starting the season a lot stronger in midfield than we started last season, that's a fact. Lokonga is also quite a bit better than Ceballos it seems. Offers a lot more.

Lokonga, Xhaka and Partey is an improvement on last season, regardless of Xhaka staying or not we are in a better position in that area. The only issue is we haven't improved on Xhaka which would've been the ideal. So now we need to improve in the AM role and at right back.

Like I said, it doesn’t protect anything. A player being tied to a contract for x amount of years doesn’t automatically increase or preserve value. There are other factors at play such as age, salary, form of the player. He’s 30 next year and will be on wages that won’t be matched by most teams who’d want him. He could also have a really bad season and then nobody would even consider signing him anyway, meanwhile we’re stuck with a player on high wages until he’s 33.

There is a difference, i want to challenge for top
4 and if we don’t make it then fair enough, at least we challenged - that’s an improvement. You’re just happy with top 6.

Think City, Chelsea, United and Liverpool are just too far ahead of us to get Top Four yet...though if we can build a good squad soon, can see Liverpool starting to maybe slip...they don't have the money of the other 3, plus many of their key players will be coming to the end soon, so we have a chance at them.

One of the worst posts I've seen on this forum. Partey and Xhaka were here last season and we ended up 8th, this Lokonga kid will probably end up behind Elneny

We started the season with Xhaka, Ceballos and Elneny but you continue throwing that dummy out.

Don't let facts get in the way of this, mate.

If he actually signs a new deal, doubt we ever sell him...just got to hope Lokonga steps up.

Imagine going from that Crystal Palace day, to a new contract, mental...should make him captain again, just for the banter

He's already worn the arm band since then, it's not that crazy of an idea.

@HairSprayGooners was literally starting to improve then he killed it with that post.

He needs to fix up.

What the **** is wrong with this club? His current deal runs until 2023 at which point he'll be 30 years old.

If you give him a new deal all it means is you are stuck with an ageing player on high wages. If they want to keep him just let him run down his contract. At the moment no-one is bidding 18m for him, so just take the hit over 2 seasons and let him go for free at the end of his current deal.

Auba's hairline has been a disgrace since he got it...maybe it is time for full head of hair Granit to bring respect back to our armband?

Think the only way out of this is to sign Xhaka's older brother to make sure Granit gets the arm band.

Our midfield is better than last season, tbh...even if Hairspray is usually overly optimistic all the time.

If Partey can stay fully fit (which he never really was, thanks Mikel!) he is one of the best in the league...and Lokonga does look exciting (not our best CM since Cesc good, but still pretty good...) feels a bit like an Arsène signing.

If Xhaka chooses to stay, I don't wanna hear anymore about the booing incident or the abuse he received. he's had ample opportunities to leave and hasn't. If it were that bad he would have found a way to Roma.
The guy knows he won the lottery when Arsenal signed him. The social media thing is the way he & his acolytes try to deflect from the fact that he as an atrocious player. Don't you remember when he stayed after hertha bid for him? It wasn’t just because Arteta asked him to, it was mainly because of the reality check that Arsenal is the biggest club he'll ever play for

Maybe

You're wrong, no?

So you're saying Xhaka will stay so he can be a backup for Lokonga or Elneny?
