Exactly on the point of Jorgino, many mentioned it was massive downgrade for us (worse than Xhaka) when we were linked to him end of season before last. Then he goes on to win CL, Euro and finished no.3 on Ballon d'Or ranking
Some posters do not actually understand football & just want some 'hot new name' from abroad who they have seen linked on some questionable webpage!

Its like when we got linked to Neves from Wolves as a possible Xhaka replacement people were underwhelmed, Even though he is younger & a very good footballer.

LOL

I'm glad we got rid of that left-back nonsense and in general avoid to put him in the exact situation that happened towards the end of the game. Makes his performance much closer to his international and Glabach form. And we now have a backline to facilitate it. The best things he did today (imo) were the headers/won possession high up the pitch.

Should be rested for Leeds though. Already played three games since returning from injury early and we need to get Lokonga minutes for when Partey's gone.

Good game apart from the usual xhaka lack of awareness moment. Him and Partey need to step up away form home because it'll be vital they are the oldest players in starting 11 with Laca

Anyone notice him getting in the box at times last night? A far cry from the makeshift left back spot he was asked to take up earlier in the season. He was unlucky not to score tbh- solid game from him.

Good when he has space, theres nothing new in that. Seems fitter than the last 2 matches which is always good. Think he still isnt getting to his best last year where he covered a lot defensively... and we could improve on him but for now hes an important part of the team.

Another positive from last night. Tactically, not specific to Xhaka. I think you'd have to go back to Emery the last time he was allowed to do so on club level. Which made sense at the beginning, because we tried to get a shape back, but as with so many things was something Arteta hold on for far too long.

Another interesting tactical thing I noticed when watching our midfield is how often we played into our strikers (Laca/Martinelli) with the intent of them turning the opposing defender. Didn't always work out, but it did lead to some promising situations.

Makes Arteta even more frustrating to me, though.
Why do we always need to have some major drama before making these changes, ffs?
Can only hope this was the last time.

He lost the ball that lead directly to 2 chances for West ham, Partey was much better than his last few games. Xhaka had a great match, apparently any match he doesn’t get a redcard or hand the opponents a goal and the team wins equals a Xhaka masterclass

Escaped today.. But so many games he has cost us like this when we lead 1-0 and all... Thankfully it was 3 today before he lost his head

Thought he was excellent in the first half then lost the head after the break. Something really unsettling about the way he laughed about the tackle too. If Shawcross had done that you'd have wanted to take his head off.
They zoomed in on him there, he was trying to look incredulous and as if he couldnt do it. Stupid "tackle" but hed be even more stupid to act guilty. Weird how they showed flashbacks of that foul - cant remember them doing that for others.

Yeah think he was talking to the ref but it still didn't look very nice.

Very much the sum of his career, did a lot.of good stuff and suddenly decided he had enough of having a good game and went full Granit.

Never go full Granit.

On second though, I'd start him in the cup games hoping he pulls a Xhaka and gets it out of his system before the top 4 race starts to get even tighter.

I'm not angry about his performance i thought he was comfortable but can he stop being stupid? What the reason of that dangerous tackle in middle of park while you 3-0 up?
