Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
Really hoping Japan have nice world cup they got chance against Sweden or Holland. They want to reach late rounds.

Our friend Tomi is in squad by the way

I had them as my dark horse the two previous World Cups. They always look good, but there seems to be missing something to really challenge the big teams.

Why is Mitoma not in the squad? Is he injured?

Hamstring surgery very recently unfortunately. Big miss.

What they are missing is a world class player like Haaland, Mbappe etc. All great team players, but nobody really stands out.

Given that a lot of 3rd placed teams will qualify for the knockouts, I think we have a decent chance to sneak a place.

Japan is the prime example how to develop into a international football powerhouse. Have a long term plan and stick to it.

I remember back in the days that Japan only had hard working runners who was out of gas after 30 minutes of play. No tactic and only run like your life depends on it.

Am quite impressed by under 12 football here. Some really technically gifted players. Also Japanese youth are getting really tall now, which is a bonus.

Mitoma absence hurts their offense bad I think
Kubo, Ito and Doan are all piled up on the right, while their left simply isn't that good enough to share the attacking burden
Ueda as their main striker is doing well in Feyenoord but his goal compilation is literally scrapping on shot rebounds. Definitely won't be getting those chances against Elite defenders.

they might not make it out of group stage if they lose to Netherlands cause Gyokeres gonna tear them a new one (unless Tomi is back at his best)

Are you a powerhouse if the best you've ever done in the last like 30 years is round of 16?. 0 Improvements since 2002?(in terms of results) :p

I didn’t say they already are, but they definitely have the blueprint to become one. Just look at how many Japanese players are now active in Europe compared to 10 years ago.

The players currently playing in Europe will eventually bring that experience and knowledge back to Japan, which will help further develop the next generation of youngsters.

I mean I agree with you that they seem to be doing is good!

But, It's not a prime example of something if it is not an example of something lol.

Arsenal Quotes

I've got the best goalkeeper and the best centre half. All I need are the best wingers and the best forward. It doesnt matter what the rest are like.
