he deserves criticism, but i also think his days are limited as a wide player, and to get the most out of him he needs to be central. much like Özil. we need to sell central players and buy wide players -- until then, square pegs in round holes.
We addressed goal keeping, good. We sort of addressed CM, okay ish. As far as I'm concerned if emery knew 433 was gonna be his thing. Then they should be brought in at least one winger. Özil technical skill set allows him to be make shift but everyone knows he and mikhitarian is best utilised centrally.

He should be a bench/rotation option with Özil at this point. We need pace and width that he can't provide.

but Holding’s hair transplant was painless
I think he can play very effectively as a forward. Seems like a strange thing to say, but he's dangerous in dangerous areas. Whereas, Özil can be effective playing from deep.

I think there is room for both in the team, provided both don't start on the wing.

I would play him as our no 10 role just like he did at Dortmund with Torreira/Xhaka holding.

I don’t get the hard-on people seem to have for Mkhitaryan. Since he came to the Premier League he has created roughly the same amount of chances per 90 minutes as Iwobi. People are quick to talk about Ramsey and his purple patches but Mkhitaryan is the same. He had one excellent season for Dortmund and the rest of his performances have ranged from brilliant to rubbish. He’s not the sort of player you should have starting considering he can be a complete passenger in games.

Totally agree with this.I think Emery should give Nelson a chance to prove himself. Only player in our squad who can take on a 1v1 and he has some pace.

I think that since he came to Arsenal he has been the second best player among all our attackers and midfielders, right behind Aubameyang. This season's opener was his worst game in an Arsenal shirt and quite comfortably at that too.

You realise he spent a season at united rotting on the bench??

Haha, I meant to write since he came to Arsenal, I did myself no favours there. His United career hasn't been inspiring, but for us he seemed to have found a new drive.

I want to believe this but in all honesty he has been hot and cold. Some good games and some anonymous ones too. Hoping the good outweighs the bad because I do rate him as a player.

Didn't realise how important he was in terms of helping us get the ball back until I saw the video I posted the other day. Just needs to get back to his Dortmund 15-16 best in terms of end product, or just even at times in his first couple of months here last season.

I always had the impression he had good workrate and was important in the press, and that video you posted clearly backed it up.

Best thing about him is, barring all the nonsense discussion about where he should actually play, if he gets into form he's a massive goal threat in terms of scoring himself and assissting. If people actually made the effort and look at where he played in 15/16 they'd know he played about the same amount on the left as on the right and scored/assissted about the same from both wings, which is something I have brought up multiple times.

LW: 22/12/13
RW: 21/10/15

Only in 13/14 did he mostly play centrally: 38/9/9. The season before he had 40/28/13 through the middle for Donezk.

I think this is enough to show he can be a threat from anywhere - left, centre and right. If you look at his first two season at Dortmund you'd see he had a slow start for them, too, compared to his high scoring seasons.

Basically it boils down to the system and how he and other players are used. I would like to see him along Ramsey and Torreira in a midfield three, while also rotating with Özil centre to right wing - exactly for the workrate and second ball winning he does under Emery. Ramsey has that same press fitting traits, as does Torreira along defensive skills. I think that could be sufficient in heavy pressing 433/4231/442 hybrid. You don't need too many defensive specialists if your tactical system is the defensive specialist.

Such a Mkhi game

Huge in both goals, but cost us just like Auba with the horrible skied shot. He gets a pass though, he connected very well with Bellerin and Iwobi today. Hope to see more of the same in the future.

Not a wide man, the goal masks a poor performance, defensively offers nothing, needs to be played central or not at all for me, did nothing to help Bellerin who needs all the help he can get at the mo.
