I mean, I hate to see him do those 'arrogant' celebrations. What is the reason behind them? many non gooners, who loved Henry, have told me that his recent attitude is making them hate him.

I think the guy's got off-pitch problems. I remember him saying that when he got married and everything off the pitch was great, his attitude and game improved in the game.

I still dont understand why he's not celebrating?

- When he scored vs Villa, he had a upbeat face, kept on nodding his head and saying something.

- Panathinaikos away.. that was bad! especially for what could've been a winner.

- Penalty vs Panathinaikos at Highbury

- Goal vs Souhampton, which we were struggling to get ! it was better than the rest of the celebrations, but still, it's unlike him.

I know he doesn't like overdoing his celebrations anymore, but just a simple run in the park with a smile on your face and hugging your team mates like he used to is great.

I think there's definitely been something bothering Henry. His attitude on the pitch always reflexes something going on in his personal life.

Arrogance. Plain and simple.

Goals should always be important dosent matter if they are tap ins or golden goals they should always celerbrated. Im not asking him to run naked around the field doing carltwheels and 360's with a pike. Im just asking him to show some passion and get the boys fired up. Celerbrating like you are going through the motions may result in you playing like you are just going through the motions which Henry seems to be doing latley.

Just show some passion. Enjoy your football.

I don't like it. It really show that he is arrogant and proud. Walking around showing that "I am that damn good" and "You can't beat us face" really doesn't work for me or others. He is really starting to get on my nerves, regardless of his performances or not.

As long as he's sticking the ball into the back of the net is it really an issue?
Nevertheless I do detect arrogance - some of the comments I've heard him make and the way he now berates 'some' of his teammates is a new side of Henry that I don't like.

fustration? tired? playing through the pain barrier? Had enough?

I dont know but I think he needs a rest to regroup and focus. I remember when he reportedly said he had an injury and that he needs a rest. I think maybe its affecting his personal life, I mean we are all human and there is only so much one person can take. Also last year there was a lot of pressure on him to perform and then Reyes comes in and in one way I think he saw it as a way to get a rest and release some of the pressure and in another its reminding him that he wont be there forever and will inevitably not start a game not because he is injured but because hes not first choice. We are all human and these feelings occur.

I think about how Wenger came out twice (i think) and said that Henry could get better I found it odd that he repeats it and I thought maybe its public re-assurance to Henry that he still believes in him and that he can get better.

But in terms of these celebrations I think it takes something away from the team. If he did celebrate I think it would boost the team, get them hyped up to get another quickly.

He shows alot of passion when other players score goals. He smiles and generally looks more upbeat. Go figure. :?

I think he said it was because of some things they were chanting at him (racial, AFAIK), and he over reacted about it. Or something to that effect.

Vs Villa he was saying "no one beats us" which was a bit arrogant (and sadly wrong now), can't remember the one against Southampton I'm afraid, but they said on the radio last night that the panathinaikos celebrations were down to the fact that he was getting racially abused in the first game, so he was making a point in his celebrations - so fair play to him I say.

I dont care how he celebrates, not that important really.

I'm more concerned with his game, its totally changed hes not doing what he used to do like burning up the wing going past 2 or 3 players. He now only uses the pace when he has to instead of making it his main attribute.

Also he looks a bit heavy and laboured when hes running, what happened to the dancing on ice.

I dunno if hes carrying a slight injury but hes not the player i enjoy watching.

I agree 100% and have been saying the exact same thing.

The guy is really starting to annoy me recently. These celebrations just make him look like an arrogant part, which in many ways he is. I would love him to show some passion and enjoyment when he scores a goal.

His all round play looks like he isnt very happy at something. The smallest incident that doesnt go his way makes him sulk and not look interested. Then there are his non performances in Europe and in big games where he just goes missing.

I think he has got too big for his boots. Someone within the club needs to give him a kick up the arse. But who? The two main people whos job it would be to do this are Wenger and Vieira, but I just cant see them doing it to Henry. I think he is starting to believe his own hype way too much.

I'm wondering about Thierry too. Mindful of the fact that we may be reading too much into too little, I was thinking, as I watched the game on video last night, something's not right.

the staring celebration cant be just againts Pana cause he has done it a few times in a row now.
I think the commentaors were talking about when henry was rubbing his back to the Pana supporters last night, signalling "water off a ducks back" when in contrast to the racist abuse. Tv showed it just once.

the staring celebration goes back to when he scored the hatrick agants pool last season. i think that was the first time he did it

Personnaly i dont mind him showing arrogants or originality in his celebrations as long as his performing...which lately he hasent been at top standard. (Though two goals in two games, his overall standard.)

i think you're all making too much of it, his celebrations have always been subdued compared to some, we all loves the "shush" one and now he's got this silent stare, now i know i'm one of the few that feels the energy when he does it but theirs enegy and passion in that, it's not a non-celebration, it's an in your ****ing face, them players receive nothing but abuse from opposition fans, it's one of those it don't mar me, i'm still doing this, i'm here to stay and i'll do it looking into each and every one of your faces, i've had no problem with henry, but for a long time i've wondered what will happen if someone don't start challenging him for goals, if that faisl to materialise soon he will turn into anakin and turn to the dark side but you're all too early.

you're forgetting this is the man who said to reyes "lets see who's scored the best goal end of the season" theirs an arrogance about that, but a good one, it's the type of ego we need in our team to bang in goals.

and you're all so quick to forget that this is the man who said he wants more assists than goals, now forgive me if i'm wrong but how can that be arrogant?

not to mention he's always on one of the first over to whoever scores a goal to join in in celebrations.

apart from the energy of yesterday's goal, you'll have noticed he was in a trance like state when he was doing his celebration, to the point he got slapped in the face and told the game goes on.

ps. this is the most pathetic thread ever, geez how many strikers we got on our team, when was the last time you saw them celebrate? they deserve more 'non-celebration' flack, as long as he's banging em in, who are we to critisicise the way he does it?

pps. this was already discussed in the pana thread, yet remains open

Arsenal Quotes

I believe the target of anything in life should be to do it so well that it becomes an art.
When you read some books they are fantastic, the writer touches something in you that you know you would not have brought out of yourself. He makes you discover something interesting in your life.
If you are living like an animal, what is the point of living? What makes daily life interesting is that we try to transform it to something that is close to art. And football is like that.
