Bologna are set to hold talks with Parma in a bid to sign Hidetoshi Nakata on a permanent basis. Arsenal and Tottenham are also rumoured to be considering making offers for the Japanese international

The 27-year-old seems to be on his way to recapture his old form after helping Bologna to three wins in their last four Serie A matches.

Planetfootball.com report that club president Renato Cipollini is desperate to hold on to him.

Due to Parma's poor financial position, the former Roma star is reported to be available for a fee in the region of £5 million

Arsenal for some reason are always being linked with Nakata. He's such an overrated footballer in my view. The only thing he is good for his is merchandise value.

Well exactly.. He is ASIA`s "Beckham".. If we ever do sign him we`ll get atleast £50M from Shirt Sales.. There are 40Million people in Japan.. Atleast 100,000 would buy his shirt (£40+Name Printed x 100,000) And yeah Add to it another £5 For each Shirt If we give him a 2 Digit squad number Like Real Madrid did for Beckham o Boast Shirt Sales! LOL.. Plus TV Rights for our matches sold to Japanese Media so that`s another couple Of Millions! (We Sold Our Reserve Matches To Them when we bought Inamoto!.. So They`d buy AnyThing that has to do with Nakata for God`s Sake!)

We wouldn't get anything for shirt sales in Asia!!! They don't honor copyright laws over there. Meaning fake Kits on E-bay is what people wear. They look real, but clearly aren't. And because they don't come from our merchandise stockpile, Arsenal will see no money. Manure even said as much about a year ago. Someone mentioned how much they made from Beckham Merchandise and they said, not what they had expected, meaning in Manure terms very bad sales...

Bhutia used to play for Bury in 2nd Div
Wasn't even that great for them.
Best Indian athletes dont get drawn to football - yet. Maybe someone from British indian community would be a safer bet. Also, apart from the merchandising rights or lack of issue, many people in these countries are v poor. Buying an arsenal shirt isn't top priority! especially for £40, which is worth a lot more elsewhere. Also, do we really want to be this vast global megastore who can be bought by anyone???

We should keep an eye on Chinese football, we could capitalise if we keep our scouts watching
