How good would this ex-Arsenal team be?

How would an ex-Arsenal team do this year?

Beyond that first XI you could round out with the squad with:

Fabianski as a back up goalkeeper as well as Koscielny and Kyle Bartley who is in partnership with Ajayi at promotion chasing West Brom.

Full back would be a problem unless you played Coquelin or Gabriel at RB as otherwise it’d be Debuchy and Lichtsteiner with Monreal and Gibbs on the other side.

In midfield you’d also have Isaac Hayden and Coquelin as options to provide steel in tough games as well as Mkhitaryan to give some creativity.

Otherwise in midfield young Ovie Ejaria who’s playing well on loan from Liverpool could give you energy and the experience of Fran Mérida who’s a La Liga starting midfielder would be other options. Maybe even Henri Lansbury who’s played a couple of games for Villa this year.

Up front you could use Giroud who’s still a serviceable striker as a rotation for Malen and even Lucas Perez who has 11 La Liga goals this year.

On the wings you’d have Alexis and Oxlade-Chamberlain and maybe Theo as supporting options, also Gervinho who’s still a key player for Parma. Welbeck could be a choice.

How would you think they’d finish? Starting XI has a good mix of youth and experience with a few world class players although the defence would be a bit dodgy with the full backs offering very little going forwards.

I think top four, front three would be pretty decent and Gervinho, Giroud and Alexis off the bench aren’t terrible options. Midfield would be a massive strength with a few options. Back four would give up goals but you have a top keeper.

That's not a title challenge team.

Maybe top 5 at best

Would beat our current team, that midfield would dominate possession and Gnabry/Malen have the pace and finishing to kill the current defence.

Top 5

That team won’t finish above Wolves, Sheffield etc. Too many weaknesses defensively, midfield is abit lightweight, then you have Iwobi who doesn’t have an end product. Jury is out on Malen.

Only players in that team you take to the bank are Chez, Gnabry, Monreal and maybe Bennacer. The others are injury prone like Santi and Ramsey, and the rest just not good enough for the PL.

Just use Coquelin and Isaac Hayden on sh*thouse duty if you have to.

Decent striking depth and Gervinho and Alexis have experience. Gabriel is arguably better than any of our CB’s right now.

Our current team would beat them, better attack and defence. That midfield has more sauce though.

Tbf, Rex gave squad options in the text...Kos, Coquelin, Chamberlain, Giroud, Fabianski (who should be a starter no doubt to you) etc...think the defensive players, at the age they are would let you down as you say in the end...but it's not like the 3rd-6th place teams this season are top quality either, you would have a chance.

Europa league places I think.. Clear weaknesses and too many question marks there.. Not sure they’d do better than current squad.

Come on now. Look at that defence.

The rest is horrendous too. Gnabry the only player worth mentioning.

Upgraded midfield and keeper though. Santi and Bennacer is Man City level stuff. Gervinho, Giroud and Alexis off the bench would be naughty.

Fancy them ahead of Chelsea and Leicester.

Your boy Emi is better than Woj. Midfield in theory isn't bad, but a dead Santi and an unproven Bennacer is questionable to say the least over the course of a season.

Szczesny best keeper in the world right now arguably and has been elite since the day he left.

Defence is grim but look at some of the plumbers in the Leicester and Chelsea defence. Is Gabriel really worse than Zouma, Christensen or Evans?

I have watched Juve enough to say that is bullshit. He's alright, nothing to miss.

Yeah, those are bad too. Not sure what you want me to answer though.

Have to agree to differ on Szczesny. Top, top keeper for me.

Juve fans seem to think Szczesny is weak at the near post, he’s not close to Alisson, Ederson, Oblak, Ter Stegen or Neuer.

“In Roma I put on the bench the best goalkeeper in the world, in Juventus the best in history.”
