Yeah more like it but even Eze doesn’t really move me *that* much.
Had this argument with someone yesterday - neither start here, can’t be throwing money at these types of players when we’re needing a left 8.
Push City until the final day, Champions League qualification but Merino and Eze are the best we can get? That’s very underwhelming.

I just don’t see who are needle movers in the midfield area. It’s just Kimmich out there. IMO 1 if our signing should ideally be a needle mover.

At LW you have Williams and Kvaratskelia at least to go for.

Kimmich ideal, yes. But I do think there are CMs who might not be a big name player, but would still have a big impact. I mean, the bar is low, last season we had Havertz and a half fit Partey. Jorginho done well to fill in.

So there's no Athletic articles that specifically stated we want a backup to Saka. Glad we've cleared that up.

It was on Ornsteins summer update with the athletic podcast. Those are the positions they said we wanted originally.

Logically explain to me why we would not sign a backup to Saka?

Because Saka will most likely play every game no matter what. You either sign someone who does exactly what Saka does or sign a winger who can play LW/RW, or sign someone to start on the left (like Nico) and then you use Martinelli as a LW/RW. I think those are all things they'd consider and not limit themselves to someone specifically for RW.

Looks like the PL will be lightwork for him tbh. I actually do think his style is a lot more suited to the PL than La Liga.

Might not be the flashiest name that people want but we’ll be a lot more solid with him in there tbh. Teta will definitely try for him considering his profile and contract situation imo.

Opens up a pathway for Nwaneri as well given his age and puts Rice back at 6.

He’s not who I’d want but his profile is what I like.

Mikel will always win.

Exactly. I’d definitely prefer Merino to some of the names I’ve seen on here.

There’s a lot more value in bringing him here due to his situation, the balance he’d give us + experience than say a Zubimendi who is tidy on the ball but is seriously overpriced for what he provides us.

Club are probably thinking he tides the team over until that star player is available.

I’d like to see how we could compliment him, with a top winger/CF tho.
