Evra was taking shots at Arsenal when we were severely hampered by our reduced finances in the late 00s and early 10s, that's why he's a ****...plus the fact he is a freak that literally eats grass doesn't help.

Would liked to have seen if he was brave enough to call Arsenal "babies" when we had Adams and Vieira playing for us, the little prick.

This is what Makalele, one of the most fearsome DMs, was being subjected to by Vieira. Evra wouldn't have stood a chance

And out of interest what is your theory based on?

The amount of ball playing defenders there are now including the strict handball/tackling rules encouraging standing off - I would argue the defensive nous is now gone.

There are less heinous fouls and bone crunching tackles, so players have the platform to be expressing themselves more but often don’t due to the will of whoever their coach is.
@Sapient Hawk posted about this match and I watched the extended highlights. It's played at a much higher tempo than games today. None of this passing it around between the keeper and back 4 to give everybody a rest like City do all the time. Also the control at speed is breathtaking, and it isn't just Henry and Bergkamp.

Great game, much more enjoyable than today's mechanical football.

And what a goal from Dennis, that pace still at 34 and a super controlled finish.

Interesting.

An org saying their own product is better than ever in 2022, rather than years gone by is actually not that interesting.

If you asked them if this season was “harder” than last I wonder what they would say. (Rhetorical question, if you follow the money they would obviously say yes).

Still an interesting take on last season me thinks.

It is odd in a game; that the rules, the ball, the quality of pitches favor technical players and promote their success we have so few of them. I mean there is Salah, De Bruyne when healthy but no one else really.

I saw Patty V at Harrods and he is a mountain of a man, he looks bigger than 6’4. He has fatten up a little now in retirement he was well over 200 pounds. He is the last guy i would want to put a tough challenge on me. The guy has presence and class as well. Another better manager than Arteta.

Fearsome Dms? Makalele is one of best Dms to ever play in PL, however fearsome? There's less handful of really physical players that might of intimidated some opposition in the 90s and 80s to have played in the PL and first division. Jones and Souness the obviously the two most physical with biggest reputation. Then Fashnu (if you ever saw the crazy gang documentary). Probably wouldn't even class Vieira or Keane in that bracket.

That said, I don't think were too many guys who would of been keen on playing physical against against Stig Tofting lol.

It's definitely not tougher but there's more money these days. This gives the illusion that it's tougher when infact it isn't.

Average players that used to go for peanuts in the past now go for 50-60m.
The reality is that a club like Villa still attract the same level of talent they used to attract in the past. The difference is that they just pay more now.

Love that movie!!

Watched it with my brothers 3 weeks ago (first time for them). Definitely couldn't have showed it to them back when it was released in 2003, on account of them being 12 back then

Bad Santa, Die Hard, Gremlins, Trading Places and The Apartment (1960) are the greatest Crimbo movies of all time. It’s not a debate.

Agreed.

Anyone who says otherwise is simply bluffing.

I mean yes, but idk how you can leave out Cool Runnings. Not sure it has anything to do with Christmas mind but they always showed it in the holidays when I was but an urchin …

Ps: Also Mighty Ducks
