Italian Football 2018/19

Pescara with a lucky but ultimately hard fought 1-1 draw against Milan.

What's really cool though is that Zeman handed 18 year old Mamadou Coulibaly his debut. According to what I've read, this kid arrived alone in Italy on a refugee boat in 2015 and was homeless for a time after he arrived. He was spotted playing football near his foster home and impressed enough to sign up.

These stories are what make football. Absolute credit to Zeman who decided to give this kid his debut in a big game like this. The beautiful thing about Zeman is that he never takes a step back when playing youngsters, regardless of the occasion.

Anybody watch Torino yesterday? Belotti is so good. He's immense in the air. Guy hit the bar twice, hit the post, scored and had one ruled out offside. He's feeding on scraps as well ffs.

Would love us to sign him, probably take him over Lukaku/Lacazette.

he having amazing season he is good players the problem is italians don't do well when they play outside of their country. Immobile was just like Belotti but when he moved to Dortmund he played s**t when he back to Lazio he back play well again.

What a well worked goal from Napoli. Joy to watch them

Hamsik is a wonderful player, never really been given the recognition he should have.
People just talked about Cavani and Lavezzi, then Higuain and Insigne and now Mertens but Hamsik has been such an important player for them.

That run and shot in the Euros that some Welsh c*nt cleared off the line was different class.

He is so loyal too he got many offers in the past to leave Napoli to some big clubs in europe but he stayed he need to score 4 more goals to equal Maradona goals at Napoli and that will be amazing.

Is anybody else sensing a bit of a revival in Italian football?

Some very good prospects coming through such as Barella, Calabria, Barreca, Chiessa, Cristante, Donnarumma, Locatelli, Pellegrini, Romagnoli. There are a few other also.

Those players in bold are guys who I scouted and picked up on FM whilst in the lower leagues of Italian football, have much love for them.

Minus his aerial prowess, how is he?

Saw that the Chinese group have finally completed their takeover of Milan from Berlusconi.

Don't really keep up with italian football anymore but I loved watching Milan as a kid, their team from 2003-2007 is one of my all time favourites.

Are the Chinese group looking like they'll invest much? could Milan be competing in Europe again in a few years? or is that a long shot

Li Yonghong - the new president - said that Milan will return to win. There's an agreement between Berlusconi and Li to spend 350 mln euros in 3 years to improve the team.

Racism continues in Italy, and the authorities seem to have little interest in addressing it.

The Muntari walkout and ban

"The Pescara midfielder Sulley Muntari has been banned for one match after walking off the pitch at Cagliari on Sunday following racist abuse from the home crowd. Muntari was booked for complaining to the referee about the abuse, before walking off the pitch and earning a second yellow card.

Serie A’s disciplinary committee added that no action would be taken against Cagliari over the incident. The committee described the chanting as deplorable but claimed that “an approximate number of only 10” individuals were involved, not enough to warrant a punishment against the club under Serie A rules.

Muntari said he suffered abuse throughout his side’s 1-0 defeat at Cagliari but was booked for dissent when he asked referee Daniele Minelli to stop the game in the 90th minute, and left the field in stoppage time.

“[The referee] told me I should not talk to the crowd,” Muntari said after the game. I asked him if he had heard the insults. I insisted that he must have the courage to stop the game,” he added.

“The referee should not just stay on the field and blow the whistle, he must do everything. He should be aware of these things and set an example.”

Lazio & Inter found guilty, but let off

Lazio and Internazionale were found guilty of racist behaviour by their fans during other games played last weekend, and both were warned they would face partial stadium closures if there was a repeat.

The committee said that the Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly was the target of racist chanting by Inter fans during his side’s 1-0 win at the San Siro, while Lazio supporters targeted the Roma defender Antonio Rüdiger during the Rome derby.

It added that around 80% of the 7,000 Inter fans in one of the upper tier sections of the San Siro aimed insults at Senegal defender Koulibaly, and a similar number of fans in one section of Lazio’s Curva Nord directed abuse towards Rüdiger. In both cases, the tribunal ordered the sectors to be closed for one game if there was a repeat incident within the next year.

Lazio is a deplorable club., but how in the name of goodness can Inter have racist supporters? It was created because Milan was racist, IIRC.
