I don't think Florentino Perez gets enough credit for striking the deal to bring Ronaldo to Real, it's got to be one of the best value big deals ever. They bought him at 24 for 94m euro and sold him at 33 for 100m euro, meanwhile he played 438 games, scored 450 goals and won 15 major honours. That's all before you get on to how much money he'd have made them from shirt sales and global recognition. I mean it was a damn good deal.
It's a weird one. Arguably he's not even there to play well and score goals, not in the league anyway. He's there for two reasons: to score goals in the Champions League knockout games, and to make them rich and famous.

He's there for the commercial benefits they think he'll bring. Juve are trying to compensate for the fact they play in Serie A and to break into the upper rung of the elite.
There are basically four big established clubs in Europe: Utd, Bayern, Real and Barca. Then there are three hugely ambitious clubs trying to break into that group: City, PSG and Juve. The first two are doing it with the financial backing of oil states, while Juve are trying to do it by being smart and growing themselves into a global commercial brand.
Juve have bought Ronaldo and gambled that he'll drag them into that group of superclubs, not on the pitch but on the spreadsheets.
