He might be better than Nketiah but he’d block a future signing at CF that’ll actually improve our starting eleven. He’ll also not have played a competitive match for half a season.

I don’t like it but we’ll see what happens.
But what happens to Jesus, if we sign a tier 1 cf?

If he replicates the below and hands us the PL/CL in May then he can put his weekly wage on Jesus missing a sitter for all I care 😭

Thanks for sharing highlights from when he was in champ and league 1.

I think a lot of the people dying for Toney don’t realise this:

If we sign Toney, that’s the star striker signing. It doesn’t mean HE’S the star striker, but it does mean that moving forward, our 2 man CF striker core will be Toney and Jesus.

I like Toney, and I’m coming around to him being the guy we might buy, so I hope if that’s the case our coaching and analysis team is sure he’ll fit in seamlessly or actually improve.

But in a perfect world, I’d want an absolute world beater (Osimhen tier, of which there may only be one guy) who will render Jesus as both a secondary option for CF and RW, rather than going down one (or honestly two) tiers which means we’ll need both a Toney and a Neto because Toney isn’t good enough to usurp Jesus as our CF and Toney can’t cover a wing.

Yes Jesus can cover a wing and we can play Toney and Jesus on the right, but that would mean Jesus starts most games as a CF but also has to spell Saka on the RW meaning we’ll just be shifting the burden of minutes from Saka to Jesus.

In my opinion, we should utilise Havertz for the season as the “Toney” profile 2nd option CF (as we’ve already done a bit, using him as Left 8 and CF), go for Saka rotation and cover this January (Neto or whoever), and then enter the Osimhen/Star CF sweepstakes in the summer.

So that by next season our forward core is:

Martinelli / Trossard (*Nelson)
STAR CF / Jesus
Saka / Neto

*You could possibly phase out Trossard and have it so that Jesus is essentially the rotation piece for both the Star CF and Martinelli, the first attacker off the bench option, and a de facto ‘4th’ starting attacker, leaving Nelson as an actual backup backup not a rotation piece.

My own thought process would be sign Neto if we can and that is our forward addition.

Jesus has made it clear he wants to be a 9, I personally think he works well enough in that role and likes of Toney would be back up to him, just as Eddie is now.

Neto can play both wings, I think this gives potential to redeploying martinelli as a central striker if Eddie and havertz not deemed adequate options if jesus out / rested.

Trossard has had a blip in form, still a lot to offer but may be the guy to go and raise some funds. I still think him as an 8 is not beyond the realms of possibility.

I doubt we will sign a winger and a striker in the next 12 months unless there is to be a cull of the current attack minded playing staff

The 3 strikers that we can go for who may be available for the right offer:

Osimhen
Ferguson
Toney

Osimhen is just the real deal but would cost 150m. Ferguson has a lot of growing to do but has a high ceiling, he would come at a massive cost though. And Toney is the cheapest option and will give us a nice alternative style wise.

I don’t mind either of the 3 but would happily hold off on signing one in January if it gave us any increased change of signing Osimhen in the summer. He is obviously a game changer.

Neto in Jan and Osimhen in the summer would be unbelievable. Would make us real PL and maybe even CL contenders going forward.

I'd much rather we sign Neto. I don't think striker is the problem we make it out to be. Jesus is excellent at CF.

Sad to say, but I think the one we missed out on was Højlund.

Osimhen will most likely be too expensive. Ferguson would be expensive, and hasn't really shown enough, yet. I still think he'd be one to watch.

I wouldn't be surprised if Toney or Ollie Watkins ends up at Arsenal.

There are a fair few other options, it depends however on whether after an improvement on jesus, or simply an improvement on eddie

Erratic CF in front of goal and has become slower since his knee injuries. Should be RW option in big European games like when Pep deployed him.

If you want to win the UCL, you are not going to win it with Jesus at CF. Firmino at CF was better and he was supported by two ridiculous lethal Strikers masquerading as wingers in Salah/Mane (playing Inside, even Thiago Alcântara calls them strikers).

Also against City, to win the title you need players who can score at critical key moments during the run in, we've failed that (think of Forrest/Brighton/West Ham Away/Southampton Home/Anfield Away during first 30 mins) . Our attack now is worse than last season our chance creation/build up is even more worse than last season, 5 open play goals out of 15 (10 being set pieces/penalties).

European football and success is simple, lethal counter-attacking direct football in away games, defenders who can defend and a midfield who can supply the ball quickly to their forwards. We're currently 'controlling' games with high field tilt and doughnut U-Shaped sterile possession with no incision/penetration.

Mate, have you seen Jesus' goal scoring record in the CL? It's immense - the least of our problems

Jesus has had three starts all season in the PL and none of them at CF while we've played a grand total of 23 minutes combined with Martinelli, Jesus and Saka as our front 3. It's too early to say that our attack is worse than last season given we have ostensibly played without our first choice players.

Jesus is unreliable fitness wise and cannot be counted on to play regularly. if he's injured, we have the useless nketiah who's going to be playing, and that means we're ****ed

We need Ivan toney in January ASAP. Even if he doesnt score, he can be our Giroud to hold the ball up and bring others into play.

Nketiah is completely useless, can't dribble, can't pass, can't hold up and bring others in play.

Even Havertz and Tomiyasu are better at CF than him

Why? We have a manager who doesn’t do tactical changes well and we are buying a player he would have to make tactical adjustments for? We don’t cross the ball or lump it forward. Watkins suits our style more. Don’t get me wrong i rate Ivan Toney the player, I just don’t rate Mik to be able to effectively utilize him without destroying team. Pep effectively switched styles to utilize Haaland, but for the one millionth time Mik isn’t Pep. It is actually quite creepy how an elite club manager continually fan boys a competitor and tries to copy him even down to clothes and mannerisms. Mik is a bigger Pep fanboy than @BergMan is a Xhaka jock sniffer.

We would need toney to score, not hold up the ball, if we need someone to hold up the ball in bring people into play I'm pretty sure Havertz could do a decent job at that, we'd need more from Toney if we signed him, he'd need to bang in goals because he won't be cheap.

I'm not sold on this, I think he is maybe a bit old and i'm not convinced he takes us to the next level compared to Jesus. Allthough if Jesus is injured he is a big step up from Eddie of course.

Doesn’t suit our style and the bozo blowing the whistle can’t make the tactical adjustments needed to utilize him properly. We don’t cross it much and are a possession team.

This is more the Pep cosplayer trying to cosplay what Pep successfully did with Haaland. Newsflash Mik isn’t Pep regardless of how many propaganda just like Pep stories his PR firm plants.

So this will not work not because the player isn’t good enough he would be a bargain at 60 million. It won’t work because Mik is too dumb to utilize him or change tactics
