Rumoured we offered him 100k plus a 70k playing bonus. Putting aside emotion that's a great offer for a player on the fringes.

That offer (I actually read somewhere that it was £110,000 plus bonuses) was made long before Emery was hired (even before Arsène stepped down), so he wasn't necessarily considered a fringe player. I thought it was too much even then and they should just let him walk (taking his current £90,000 off the books). But he's a poor fit for Emery's system. That's what relegated him to the fringes.

Not enough technical ability on here. Laca will have to be on the bench.

How about Mkhi or Özil in for Xhaka? Mkhi plays central midfield for his national team so feasible. Özil could thrive deeper ala Silva or de Bruyne at City or even Santi for us.

Hopefully we replace him with quality.

The midfield group as a whole really lacks ability on the ball, pace & physicality.

Guess this is the first decision & second will be if Ramsey is here long term.

Could just be lazy journalism but a consistent theme over the years has been that Wilshere doesn’t want to fight for his place.

Probably best for him to move on. Wenger didn't have 100% trust in him either, sending him out on loan to Bournemouth.

Good squaddie, but if he wants back in the national team he needs to play somewhere every week.

It makes zero sense, you isolating the point regarding West Ham being his boyhood club. It's a combination of factors, which could make West Ham attractive.

I believe Wilshere's family are West Ham fans so it follows that there may be pics of him as a child wearing their shirt. He himself is an Arsenal fan. He wants to stay in London (like Cech and Giroud) and WH and Palace have expressed an interest. He now has to choose. I know a few WH fans. None of them want him or rate him.

Really what do we have on our bench? Iwobi or El Neny at centre midfield? its a ridicilous decision by the club to release Wilshere. we do not have a player in our squad who can sqeeze the pressure as he can do in midfield. could have used him far more then people suggested.

Should have gave him another full pre-season and he would be a starter surely the quality is still there.

I'm okay with those 2 and Maitland Niles. We have more than enough creativity in the team. If Wilshere has anything about him, he'd establish himself abroad.

The club have offered him a new deal, he doesn't want to sign it.

Jack is good on the ball and a good passer, but much of the rest of his game is lacking. The truth is, he's not mobile enough to play successfully in Emery's pressing system (Elneny is actually a much better fit to get in people's faces and make those long runs). Emery would honor the contract offer the club already made, but Jack isn't in his plans. It's really the best thing for both the club and for Jack himself for him to move on. They'd just be paying him £110,000 a week to sit the bench. They can use that money elsewhere.

Sad to think that years ago, at this stage in Wilsheres career, I expected him to be the heart of our team, club and our captain. Also seen him as a future England captain. Sad how it's turned out for him.
That said it's probably best if he moves on and gets a fresh start at this point, looking at players we're linked with for midfield its hard to see how Jack gets regular playing time here.
