Jakub Kiwior: Going Sour For Him?

It was coming. He had a run of great games but he's still a young player and his performances prior to that run showed he was a bit on a purple patch. Well I hope he learns from this. We bought Kiwior to play CB anyway.

I can't remember his name but the PSV winger absolutely rinsed him for 90 minutes straight in the group stage away game.

He subbed him off for the Fullham game at halftime too.

Look, he is a squad player, playing out of position.

He filled in admirably, all things considered, during our winning streak when we had everybody out (Timber, Zinny, Tomi).

He can get exposed. Sometimes not so much, other times he gets cooked.

Arteta started him because he is our only 100% fit and healthy option at LB, and our winning streak occurred with him starting at LB.

He's been solid and reliable but is a CB learning LB who struggled against Sane.

It can happen at the top level.
Not many LBs can handle Sane when on .

His lack of experience/maturity really showed last night. The one thing you can never do is let your opposition winger turn and get goal side of you. He should have immediately fouled Sane and taken the yellow.

He is not a LB. His good run of form came when he didn't have to face a single outright Winger, except Conceicao who he also really struggled against. He was brought off immediately once Doku came on.

Long term wise we really cannot keep playing him as LB. Is like playing Gabriel or Saliba as fullback which is unfair for them. This guy is built to be a CB, judge him as a CB. We need to buy a proper LB in the summer

This guy makes way too many mistakes for my liking. He must of cost us at least 6 goals since he’s joined us, and he’s only started playing regularly since the turn of the year. Really don’t rate him unfortunately.

Think his form of late has been overhyped as well.

as i said before the guy not fullback he is a CB it show his limitations when facing top wigners against city and bayern he can't handle the pace make it easy to bypass him because he too slow for a fullback.

next season he need to play CB rotate him with Gabriel

I don’t get where this narrative that he’s been good has come from either. He gets spun by every direct winger, been subbed early a fair few times and just doesn’t look at the quality we need.

The space around Kiwior, and getting him into 1v1 situations was targeted when Bayern were on the attack. Bayern purposefully left Kiwior in space when defending because they didnt think he was as much a threat going forward.

The substitution was to rescue Kiwior yes, but it was also to widen Bayern's focus area in their press. They ignored Kiwior in possession, but they couldnt do that with Zinchenko. That's why that changed pushed them back so much and they couldnt do anything sustainable in the second half.

Kiwior is still a fine option to play during our run in. He performed well both City and Liverpool in 2024, that should be the evidence you need.

Aside from gettin spun by his opponents he also doesnt add much on the ball and the LW has basically zero support.
