Jakub Kiwior: Going Sour For Him?

Macho

Thinks he's better than Havertz.

Country: England
Did well today, he's actually much closer to the first team than I thought as he's first defender on when somebody is out.

Maybe reports exaggerate his status at the club or it's actually him pushing to leave to play in his favoured position + more minutes.

Nice to see him finally over a whole game as LCB. Of course he wasn't tested all the time, but still looked comfortable overall.

He also really got better with Zinchenko off the pitch which is

He was definitely decent. The thing about him that's just kind of jarring is that a physical striker can bully him in a duel whereas nobody ever really does that to Saliba or Gabi. I noticed that in the first half in particular, Zinchenko was getting annoyed with him in the build up as he was maybe a bit deeper than Gabriel would be but I think that's understandable given the fixture and him getting his first start in a while. The whole team was playing more cautiously.

Overall, I think he did as well as we could have expected. I think Calafiori or Tomi would probably have put in about the same level of performance in that LCB role overall. To be fair to him, it's very tough for a young defender to improve without game time and he's simply not going to get much of it, particularly at LCB unless something goes horribly wrong in our backline.

He’s a decent player, he’d have been head and shoulders our best CB in the 2017-2020 period which shows how far the defence has come.

Head and shoulders better than kos and per? You having a laugh. Kiwi is an average player who had a good game

Did well yesterday. I do think we were fortunate that Man Utd offered very little offensive threat.

I'm happy with him in this squad role but if Gabriel was out for a couple of months or something I'd worry about Kiwior tbh.

He had that moment where he kicked it away to Dalot who took a shot from inside the area which just went past the post. Needed more composure there.

He’s fine as backup

I still think we haven’t seen enough of him to actually know who he is truly is as a player (strengths weaknesses etc) when playing in his preferred position of CB.

He hasn’t been in that sink or swim kind of environment here yet. It’s been pretty coddled which can work in his favour or against him.

I'm pleased for him after last night. He doesn't instill confidence but he's not awful either. Every player makes mistakes but his always seem to be blown up. Last night should do him good.

Nothing wrong with him.. Except maybe he is a bit vanilla.
Current options for raising his aura:

- grow-out hair (doable)
- have a beard (questionable)
- get some narly tattoos: rose, cross or an inspirational quote should do it, although for maximum aura points he'll have to combine all of them into 1 UBER-CLICHE tattoo.
- get injured more often (the missing piece effect ala Calafiori)
- shout "Kurwa" at the officials & opposition players to unlock "tough guy perk" (recommended)

Feel free to add your own ideas and we can send him a 'How to be an Alpha Arsenal Mania Style" guidebook for X-mas.

Yeah he's not shown enough or even been given the chance to prove such statements.

I know that period isn't highly regarded but it's over eagerness to constantly prove everything is tons better than before. He's ok and most of us tolerate him when he has to play, nothing more for now.

Biggest compliment I can give him from the other night is he did a couple of things on the ball to get away from players and I thought ‘that was great Saliba’ but it was Kiwi.

Decent back up, but on the flip side Utd barely attacked.

Football is a bit like elections. Before it's unpredictable. After it's unexplainable... But there's an opportunity for us to make it unforgettable.
