Jakub Kiwior: Going Sour For Him?

Watch the FourFourTwo on the game video people.

The space around Kiwior, and getting him into 1v1 situations was targeted when Bayern were on the attack. Bayern purposefully left Kiwior in space because they didnt think he was as much a threat going forward.

The substitution was to rescue Kiwior yes, but it was also to widen Bayern's focus area in their press. They ignored Kiwior in possession, but they couldnt do that with Zinchenko. That's why that changed pushed them back so much and they couldnt do anything sustainable in the second half.

Kiwior is still a fine option to play during our run in. He performed well both City and Liverpool in 2024, that should be the evidence you need.
He is a CB who is playing out of position. Sure you can use him out there against poor pl teams and he can do well enough in one of game. But how anyone can watch this guy and think he is good enough is beyond me. This is a guy who came in and even after 3 months we thought holding was better CB than him. The same holding who is not good enough for Palace

He came in as a similar type of project as Vieira. He was going to need a lot of time to adjust to a top league considering his inexperience. He's playing well in PL although there aren't very many wingers to challenge him but just being able to play in the league is good experience for him right now. He played defensive midfielder quite a bit in Serie A so him not adjusting to the inverted fullback role has probably frustrated Arteta. I think the reason he looks slow is that he's thinking rather than playing in high pressure games when he's probably the most athletic player in the side. Give him time.

Should be selling him aswell. Its not a positional thing. Should do it early when there would be intrest in him.
He was never good enough from day one. They knew it as well as they didn’t trust him to play ahead of holding. But he will be here 2 more years.

Thought he had a good first 15 minutes or so, and that he'd take confidence from that to go on and be solid, but then had 2 moments of clumsiness that could have cost us a goal. Not sure why he seems so stiff and clumsy doing basic stuff sometimes, because he's not some awkward giant like Mertesacker. He has a fairly good athletic build for the position, maybe he needs to get on Per's old yoga regiment or something.

Think there’s a real player in there. He just needs to play with more confidence and assertiveness. Think he’ll improve the more he plays.

He’s good enough to be a squad player and Teta trusts him to start games. Think he’s been a good signing overall and he provides quality depth in 2 positions plus hes able to stay fit over the course of a season.

He is our best LB.

Tomi is a part-time player at best due to injuries and health.

Zinny is a liability defensively.

Next season we have to rest Gabriel for at least a few games, can't just play them all like this one. Kiwi should be tried as a partner to Saliba, leaving the left back spot for Timber and a new signing. Tomi should cover for RB/RCB, Zinny to be sold.
