Jakub Kiwior: Going Sour For Him?

This thread title is actually a disgrace. I'm all for the humorous titles, but considering he's played just one game for us, and, as proved by @albino, players and their families read this forum, I think it's in very bad taste. Come on mods, you're better than this.

This reads like a parody post

Out of curiosity what was the title?
"Hit the road Jak". I am quite sure players will read about themselves, maybe he won't here but not helpful when a player is trying to fit in and build confidence.

We need to support players when settling in. Maybe examples closer to home but I remember Patrice evra's awful debut, he did ok once he found his feet in the premiership.

I Know Who You Are
We should have just bought a right footed centre back who is also comfortable at LCB, nothing against him I just think it would have been more practical choice for a backup.
Virtually every very successful partnership you can think of in the last 25 years has two right footed players so it can’t be that big of an issue, Puyol and Pique, Adams and Keown/Bould, Toure and Campbell, Ferdinand and Vidic, Terry and Carvalho, Ramos and Varane, Cannavaro and Nesta/Thuram, Blanc and Desailly.
On the other hand I don’t think I can ever remember seeing two left footed centre backs together.

You also have a lot more choice, this is why we ended up with Mari last time.

He wanted a left sided CB as back up for Gabriel, tets is so anal that he will not want a right footer on the left and vice versa.

It has to be remembered that kiwi can play left back and holding midfielder. Once he beds in a bit more he will be a very useful squad player, just not as a saliba replacement...that guy is Benny Blanco but two injuries at the same time make us look more stretched than we would otherwise be so.

To be fair though, most of those partnerships are ones where only one CB was expected to be able to play out from the back effectively. So the preferred foot of the other one didn't matter much. But in our system you ideally want both to be able to do it so it factors in.

You observed Arteta and his left foot fetish or have you blanked Mari from your mind?
He stopped playing him very quickly and got rid off him. I maintain if this polish guy was any good he would have played ahead of holding by now. For 20 million pound in Europe you can easily get better cb than holding

Holding plays on the right. So he wouldn't play ahead of him on the right hand side.

You take this too literal and I’m saying if it was Gabriel injured holding would have played with Saliba if fit. Arteta benched turner for Ramsdale second leg vs sporting. When it really matters he plays strongest team

If it were Gabriel injured instead holding may be in with a shout as kiwi yet to settle just yet, the plan would however be kiwi sooner rather than later. A specialist left sided centre back is integral to arteta's plans.

Next season there will be no 3rd, 4th and 5th choice centre backs, it will be what choice left CB or right CB you are.

Next season we absolutely have to sign a CB. To have two CBs so far behind the two starting is silly

I don't see this being necessary, the only reason to sign a CB is if holding leaves.

If we are to be free of injury out back up right centre back is Benny Blanco. However without Tomi he will likely remain right back for the remainder of the season.

Right now Tomi would be our back up left centre back, Benny and Tomi are very good options and not a massive come down from saliba and Gabriel, admittedly our first choice two are team of the season candidates so still big shoes to fill.

Kiwi wasn't up to speed in his first game, he has however proved in Italy and with Poland he will be a very strong back up in the future. Under other circumstances he may have had more cup games to ease him in with. I have every faith he will prove to be a shrewd signing next season. Be it lcb cover, shoring up lb if defending a lead, or adding more defensive steel to cm in similar circumstances.

I recall Martinez was written off after his first two games for man u, slightly different example but a lcb who has since proven the doubters wrong. Kiwi will do the same before long.

Martinez played from the start. This guy has not played except 60 mins
