I chuckled at this but it's a very accurate comparison tbh. He's a bit more physical as well but on the other hand it could just be my perception as Özil is playing in a more physical league.
Think he looks more physical as he's got that stocky South American build and is less lean than Özil.
James is a deceptive one. Maybe due to his great WC a couple of years back. But having seen him more closely at Bayern, he's clearly a very good player, but also a very classic No. 10. He uses his technique in similar fashion to Mesut in how he controls balls, pulls feints and gets away from players, but he's definitely not a classic 1vs1 dribbler. He also lacks pace and superficially has a rather static game, again similar to Özil. He's definitely at home in the centre and not suited as a winger. He has the ability to take over games but "goes missing" too often and he's surely no one to dictate and structure play from the 10 position. Among Bayern fans he gets similar critique to the one Özil gets from Arsenal supporters.
He's maybe a bit more agile in tight spaces and he has that magnificent shot, but if Emery wants something else than Özil at 10, James definitely isn't his man.

Ridiculous rumour. We aren't breaking our transfer record on a number 10, who doesn't press. No chance in hell! I do rate James though.
