While we’re on the topic I’m more leaning towards keeping Martinelli.

Even though I think he’s a bit overpaid for what he is he’s the perfect winger to have as a backup, especially to somebody who might be more of a maverick like Leao or even Gittens.

Every club needs a Durk Kuyt, Park Ji Sung type “sprint 50M just to preserve a throwing” merchant.

If we want to be win trophies, nothing. We need pace, and a strong bench, and there are many minutes to go around. You should have Martinelli and whoever fighting for a LW. Trossard lacks pace.

Leao has the highest potential impact of any player we've been linked to. The big question is how much would he adapt to us and how much would Arteta adapt to him.

If it works he's immediately one of the best wingers in Europe.

I think he'll grow into a better striker in the long term. He's so powerful but just needs to work on his finishing to be a constant threat up top.

Yeah I was saying this earlier in the thread. They should be interested as a long term replacement for Son but I think they are cash restricted unless they get that Champions League place next week.

Sure he's good and got high ceiling, but we're after a CL and PL, don't think Gittens as the only wide signing is enough. I'm not saying he's a bad player, but we need more.

Martinelli would be a good backup because he'd give us a great option when defending leads against tired legs. Dangerous on the counter, defends hard. Useful against teams that play high as well. Far less useful when we're chasing the game against a team that sits deep, but you can't ask for everything from a backup, you sign a better LW for that.
