Sounds a lot like Pepe, so MutableEarth calling him someone who fits Arteta's profile is a head scratchier to me. He sounds like the kind of player Arteta would absolutely hate.

He needs the raw materials, pace, dribbling, and the positional discipline and decision making is something he can work with. We need a one on one threat in behind.

I’m happy with Gittens over Williams.

I am not against signing Jamie Lee-Curtis, a bit old now and slightly reliant on the Halloween franchise imo.

But overall a very talented actress and significantly better option up front than Jesus and Havertz, bring her to The Carpet!

Clearly, you've not seen "Trading Places".

Certainly not the LW I'd go for but similar to a lot of the winger links he has a lot to like and a lot we need in this team.

The one thing that stands out for me is every touch he takes when dribbling is calculated. He can keep the ball so close to his feet, something that made Hazard really special.

Do we need players to dribble past defenders only to do nothing with them cause they lack the football IQ? The fundamental problem is that I am not convinced Gittens is an upgrade from Martinelli in any way. Send Martinelli to Dortmund and I am sure you will see a very different player.

Thats a lie and you know it. Kittens hasnt done anything of note to be highly rated by anyone.

Not a lie. I've never heard of this chap before his name appeared on AM's wishlists and other threads.

A winger can't dribble with his head down, that's Martinelli's main problem. His dribbling style often leads to poor decision-making in the final third because he doesn't see what's around him. Many times, he needs to lift his head and look before passing. In the EPL, space is limited due to tight defending, so it's understandable that he struggles.
With only £40m to get Gittens, this is a good deal.

Said it before and I'll say it again. His eye for talent is f***ing overrated on here. But he watches or follows and posts a lot about the youth, so people on here end up taking his word as gospel!

"cutting inside to run into a defender over and over, while refusing to pass and combine with the overlaping fullback."

Hmmm.....now who does this remind us of ? 🤔😂😭

These guys thought Sancho was a world beater and couldn’t understand why he never got a game for England.

Maybe Arteta and Berta know something some random fan on a forum don’t?

Haven't seen much from him, but his stats aren't that great. He's only 20, but is he better than Martinelli?

I want a gamechanger like Saka on the left wing, not just a new toy.

Difference is he’s 20 and the main takeaway is that he’s extremely talented and is a good finisher.

‘Refusing to overlap with the fullback and cutting inside too much’ is an easy fix in a well drilled team, and the latter might be exactly what Mikel wants from his LW.

He’s too young and the evidence is too anecdotal to draw any conclusions. Also the links suggest Mikel doesn’t hate him?

Gittens is much more comfortable going either way and a level above Martinelli as a 1v1 threat. He also appears to be a better ball striker and plays with his head up.

A player that can dribble past players and then consistently make the right decision is a world class winger, that is a very high bar and you don’t need to be at that level to be an upgrade on Martinelli. Obviously that’s what we should be aiming for but a more two-footed 1v1 dribbler with good finishing would still be a decent upgrade on Nelli and I think that’s Gitten’s floor IF he takes to our coaching.

Martinelli at Dortmund would still dribble with his head down, be unable to cut inside effectively and let defenders show him down the outside while he clips in easy to defend crosses. He’d score more because that league is more open, that’s all.

I saw Gittens in the CL and he was creating from inside the box, a bit of jogs Bonita and a nice cross creating goals. It’s not a difficult recipe if Vini played simpler he would be more effective.

I think at 20 it is very hard to be consistent so I get that he is going to have games where he is ineffective but does he have the raw materials. Personally I like Malick Fofana but I think Gittens has a cleaner dribble and may have a higher ceiling if he can work on what to do in the final third.

If you gonna look at him and say he’s only 20. There’s another 20 year old with big potential in the PL available. Garnacho….worth looking at

Malick Fofona and Gittens both raw bring similar thing.

Gittens can 1 vs 2 and can create goals for himself.
More physical.

Malick Fofona looks more two footed and has a cross in him too to go outside.
Less Physical

I would get them only of we sell Martenelli. Or he is now a CF backup.
We should get Xavi Simons to play Trossard role and one of above at good price.

Edit:
If we win CL we can try to get Barcola and Xavi instead and make us proper
Cornrows FC.

I’d rather just get Eze if we want a AM/LM hybrid, and Gittens has a better physical stature for PL than Fofana.

I rate Martinelli but in terms of driving towards the box he is very limited. He thrives on just drawing the RB out and kicking it past him at pace which he does well but we need a player who can take on 2-3 defenders into the box and get a shot off. I’ve seen Gittens do this way more than Williams for example.

I will say that M.Fofana and El Khannouss are two very talented guys who might fly under the radar and be available for more reasonable transfer fees. Some of these immediate 60m fees for 6 month form are robbery.

Arsenal Quotes

It was a unique moment, a football fairytale. Was there anyone left who still believed I could give that kind of performance? Probably only Arsène Wenger.
