Someone also pointed out the other day that Calafiori started as an LB and has definitely played there if that's an error.

He's been an LB his entire career bar one season, his last one with Bologna. That also happens to be his breakout season and he also ended up playing CB for Italy at the Euros in the summer of that year so it gives some the impression that he was always a CB but he wasn't.

It HAS to be a PL guy. Like, why?

My guess? Less of an adaptation period since whoever does come in will likely be required over the next few months rather than years. A loan might be a better option, but it depends who is available.

The more I think of it the more I think he’s a better fit for us as a Saliba alternative to us than Konsa.

He’s very good in then air and on the ball. Mosquera, Ben White, Timber and Hincapie are all essentially channel defenders. I think Konsa would potentially be another one of those, whilst Quansah would be more in the Saliba/Gabriel mould.

He’s not the best 1v1 out wide, but he’d likely have Timber/White/Mosquera to his side who are naturally more defensive players, who’d likely mean he gets isolated less.
