We took that long to sign Partey because we spent the summer trying to negotiate a lower deal.

We have the money now, we just haven’t triggered his clause because he hasn’t given any encouragement to the club.

We also spent the back half of the summer flirting with Aouar, and there was genuine debate over who we'd rather sign.
