I don't get this negativity towards this signing. We literally have no backup keeper that's even on 1/10th of Raya's level. If he got an injury the drop down is STEEP. Also you want to have a good keeper pushing your first choice so he doesn't feel too comfortable.

Sure, we could keep Hein, but the drop down from Raya is still massive and Hein is atrocious with his feet which basically would screw over how we play.

I really hope we land Garcia among our other targets.

Raya is gonna be our starting keeper for like next 2-3 years at least unless his form gone downhill or serious injury he on road of winning golden glove. Will Garcia accept being backup for like 2 years? I honestly can't see it even if we offer him to be our CL and cup competition keeper. I think Arsenal just waiting for Espanyol to get relegated because he'll cost like 12.5M£

Is Raya not entering an age where sweepers tend to start picking up injuries? Ederson and Allison are both basically guaranteed a couple each year now.

I’m sure we’ll all welcome this once a striker and wide forward are sealed.

Not an ideal outlay on a backup. However he sounds talented at least.

As long as still sign that CM, LW and CF of quality it’s fine.

Do we even need this guy? Here's a suggestion, how about add the money to the Gyokeres fee and get Isak

Isak isn't for sale and the size of the fee that will get Newcastle contemplating selling him will mean we won't be doing much else this summer. Move on.

When you get a chance to sign a generational talent, you take the gamble. 15m - 25m is not that much for this caliber of player. Brighton paid 20m for Verbruggen.

Starting to look like they will get CL next year as well since you just will need to be in the top 5 and they are looking good for it.

People who want to accept this nonsense fee for a backup keeper tend to overplay how bad Neto is. He was a starting PL keeper for years until this season. You don’t go from that to not being able to play one game at this level. Arteta decided to send the message he can’t use him in the cups to justify the Garcia signing making it look like Neto is totally not up to play

Sizeable outlay for a backup GK who soon won't want to be a backup GK.

Sounds like a perfect Arsenal signing.

Raya will fight for his place and improve. He's not a ***** like Ramsdale.

Arsenal Quotes

In June 1996, David Dein, Peter Hill-Wood and Danny Fiszman came out to Nagoya to meet me on behalf of Arsenal. Within an hour we came to an agreement. The Japanese directors didn't try to keep hold of me in the usual way but talked with persuasive arguments... But as far as I was concerned, the decision was taken. Arsenal. A decision that would change my life.
