Is he? I've yet to see it to be honest. In any case he's already behind Saka/Martinelli/Auba/Pepe in the wide positions who will all likely be here next season. I don't see a route for him into the first team on that basis.

He needs to play football on a regular basis for his own development.

I dont disagree with the loan argument, they all should go, the other two even permanent now, if there's a proper offer.

Yes, Reiss could regain his confidence on a loan, obviously he might also not but in any case should at least fetch an acceptable fee

Reiss being dubbed the best talent at many stages of his career is no fluke and those things dont disappear into thin air, he's definitely highly talented - even though, imo on that same position that ESR holds now.

Reiss was absolutely killing it at Hoffenheim and looked like Sancho, but he's lost his mojo with injuries and too many actions as super sub thereafter.

Also under Arteta, it's been mainly injuries sprinkled in

Good stuff. Willock, Nelson and AMN could help fund the summer rebuild.
I don’t wanna give up on Nelson just yet. He had a decent loan spell and looked out of confidence here. I feel like we should loan him out to a Championship side and see how he does.

Got 7 accusations last 3 years. Not my fault 🤦‍♂️

He wasn’t killing anything. He got few goals early. It’s triune Reiss went out and played football. He has everything to prove. There is only so long you can be an Arsenal youngster before you reach mid 20s

Reiss had 7-8 goals relatively early in the season without having played 7-8 times 90 minutes of football, if that isn't 'killing it' for a youngster, I dont know what is

Player: Martinelli
The fact that he was being used as a quasi AM means he's almost going to get no game time with Ødegaard coming in.

Hopefully he goes to a place where he gets played from deeper so Arteta can finally see the light and realize he's not an AM.

He had 7 goals early on, after that nothing. In the 2nd half of the season Nagelsmann took him out of the squad a few games for disciplinary reasons. He never recovered his form that season. Shows a lot about his mentality.

He was injured most of the time first and never recovered.
The point remains, the start was insane for a kid of his age and his talent is there for all to be seen.

You at least cannot put guys like Willock or Nketiah in the same bucket as Reiss, where two are extremely limited and the other looks like a Mkhi type of player thus far, who's entirely dependent on his confidence.

The usual problem of fans trying to look at player development and impact as linear.

Reiss is technically miles ahead of Joe & Eddie, but they are both more assertive at senior level. All have attributes that could be the basis for good top level careers, but all have plateaued this season due to lack of game time, niggling injuries, loss of form etc.

Certainly Riess & Joe need loan spells because the former has lost his confidence and needs to toughen up a bit at senior level, and the latter just has to learn how to play a single position, as his most interesting attributes sort of fall between several stools. Is he an 8, a 10, an interior wide-man? He has qualities for each position, but doesn't know how play at the top level as any of them.

Eddie would benefit from a loan too, but he's a lot closer to regular games given the squad make-up, and has shown a little more at EPL level, even if he doesn't convince. Hopefully he'll get opportunities as the season goes on in a strong line-up as opposed to mostly playing with Willian, Pepe & Nelson, who have struggled to find any consistency within games.

A loan for Willock is overdue. With Partey, Xhaka, Ceballos, Elneny and Ødegaard we have enough midfielders now that we are only in two competitions.

Ødegaard is a CAM.

Of the rest, Partey is the only physically progressive CM.

Right? Harry Kane had 4 loan spells in the Championship, doing very little then in his first full season at Sp**s under Poch he scored 31 goals.

Milner was a highly rated at Leeds then plodded around mid table teams before becoming a top player for City and Liverpool.

Sometimes it’s about perseverance and having the right manager for a particular stage of your career.

He's not going to play here though. He'll get 10 minutes at the end of games to add some legs that's about it. Should go on loan for his own sake.

We can play Chambers there as well if there is an emergency. That's potentially 5 options for 2 spots.

Chambers, when he plays in midfield is an immobile DM too.

When Partey is injured, there isn’t any other CM remotely close his dynamism and power. It’s a nuanced position.

I agree he should go on loan btw. But it’s not because we’re stacked with players of his type.

We're reticent about letting a player go who doesn't even play, how's that work? It's like sp*rs dragging their heels not allowing dele alli to leave, it's like wtf, you not even playing him, that's why he wants to leave you fool.

That would be good. Would raise the opportunity to cash in in the summer if he does well. 4 Cm's are enough imo.

Not a player I’m particularly hot on but he has made clear improvements each season, loan will lots of minutes would do him good.

Worst case scenario? Throw Luiz in there.
