Jurrien Timber: Lumberjacked

Remember when this forum was hyping up Kiwior at LB? Thank god that’s over.
Yeh I had a friend hyping him up and was getting on my nerves. I was like bro this guy is nothing more than a stop gap, not a serious top side with Kiwior LB. You’d think he was the left sided Azpilicueta the way people were chatting.

Was always clear we needed to upgrade on him + Zinny. Whether it was with Timber or a new signing.

Only thing I liked was that he was acting a bit more like a traditional LB, making overlaps etc, which gave our left side something.

Was sure they were sending him off for that tackle with how bad the refs have been recently.

Good performance all in though.
I don’t understand how it was even a yellow. Along with Saliba’s yellow. These refs have no shame, screw us over then double down the next week.

That ref is an absolute cvck though, always influenced by fan pressure or player pressure. He shouldn’t be reffing big games like this.

He looked more comfortable playing as a more natural full back rather than the inverted stuff, though I'm sure he'll get up to speed with inverting in due course. Still think LB isn't his role (that's for Cala) and we'll see Timber in a variety of positions - guy is a Swiss army knife.

Loooool ESPN FC concluding it shoulda been a red card.

Also general agreed that Gabriel fouled Romero for our goal.

I can’t, Robbie.
ESPNFC only employ know nothing never were players as pundits or fossils like Steve McNicol. Frank Lebouef is the only one who isn't a complete fool and he's got his share of bad takes as well. It's shocking for a Disney owned company to have such a pathetic roster. CBS have just added Beckham to the lineup with Thierry, Kate, Micah and Carragher.

I listen in a lot. Despite having the higher pedigree, Frank LeBouef is the worst by far, trust me. He doesn’t know ball, says some crappy stuff you’d hear from a casual football fan.

Stevie and Shaka usually come up with some decent stuff with some logic attached to it, Craig as well. But I mainly listen for the banter and as content considering I’m a stimulation crack whore.

Do CBS have a podcast?

I'm not sure if they have it in podcast form. I don't think so.

I still, after a couple of days, can’t wrap my head around this. I’ve played it back and played it back…and??? He took the ball and even when he went over it there was no contact with the player, who went down looking for a card. That washed up gimp Redknapp should be banned the way he advocated a red in punditry. Prick.

What you mean bro Disney been taking L after L for a minute now. Just be glad they never snapped up the rights to your franchise, even Adam West would blush at whatever horrors they would have conjured up.

Genuinely feel like there is some sort of glitch in the system sometimes. I try to be aware that I am biased as an arsenal fan, but it all still doesn’t make any sense.

Actually very much agree with @Aevi he got into really good positions 2/3 times and wasn’t good at all.

I expect that to improve over the season getting to know the position better. He doesn’t usually get asked to be a marauding LWB/LB so most of his possession will come centrally.

Aside from that his work defensively was excellent and he helped us get up the pitch multiple times.

Gabby my MOTM but Timber very close second.
You need to keep in mind he was out of football one year. He is still recovering his football form. Being out is not only about physical fitness but match fitness and learning patterns and positioning.
