Can’t lie he’s just on another level to White.

There are games for White definitely but this bloke is one of the best lock down defenders I’ve ever seen.

Calling him a 'lockdown' defender is doing him a massive injustice and I know you don't mean it that way at all.

He's got it all man, dribbling, pace + power, can shut down any winger itw and also gets on the scoresheet.

He's one of the only players I've ever seen whose rust lasts a few minutes after a long layoff and then immediately disappears. Just an absolute rock.

I do think he’s pretty average when it comes to final third stuff, he just doesn’t have any attacking nous (where I think White actually has a lot).

He’s good on the ball in build up though and can get a goal from set pieces.

I think Timber is the best right back in the world if you look at the first 2/3rds of the pitch. In the final third he is average and needs to get better. And that’s fine, if he was also world class in the final third he’d probably be the best fullback of all time

Yes he gets g + a but the eye test when it comes to the way he joins attacks and gets involved in the final third is very clear, he’s not on the level of the worlds best fullbacks in those areas.

He wins in so many categories though. World class player and potentially one of the most underrated, not enough people speak about him.

I'm not suggesting Timber is some elite attacking FB, I just took umbrage at the phrase 'lockdown defender' because in my mind that's a Wan Bissaka type of player who is fantastic 1v1 but literally useless at everything else. Timber is so much more than that.

Overalls in those games don't really say a player is better than the other, tbf. Laimer probably has a better overall because he's also a midfielder and has the well-rounded attributes for it, for example.

You can figure out how these ratings guys think. You basically need to be like Salah delivering year on year to get to the high ratings.

They barely let any full backs get to 90. Think even Dani Alves or Marcelo wouldn’t have got there.

Is he injured again? He played only 10 mins on Sunday
