Someone here, and I've forgotten who unfortunately, said that this was a gamble that we did not have to make. I think that is right, but we have made the gamble. Arteta will feel he has to make it work, and he will be stubborn about it.

I can't see Havertz working as our striker, certainly not as a world class front man, capable of both holding the ball up and scoring goals. I don't think Arteta sees him like that either. It will probably be as a number 8, and I think this is a hill that Arteta might be willing to have a near death experience on. That is not to say that he cannot perform as a striker from time to time, but I do not see this as his main role in the team.

I hope we can make it work, if we do not, I think it could harm our season, quite severely. Mostly because Arteta will not admit defeat, he will persevere come hell or high water. Hopefully, it will come off, for the player, the manager, and most importantly, for the club.
Ego with arteta, tried to make nuno a star and he kept making mistakes. He has certain players who are projects to make them a star or revive their careers, same with wilian for the later. It cost us points and it is deja vu with this signing.

He can’t run with the ball. He can’t dribble. He does make runs in spaces that are hard to find. But when he gets it he passes to nearest player or go backwards. We have to find a system where he plays in midfield but don’t use him

The Havertz deal feels like it was agent led. I cannot believe Mikel Arteta with a La Masia background, who idolised Pep growing up and worked with guys like David Silva, Gundogan and Rodri thought Kai Havertz could work as a midfielder.
Pretty sure this deal was done with Arteta being held at gunpoint. No other way around it.

Maybe he’ll get another charity pen soon and we can all pretend he’s been a ‘good’ signing, personally I tried to give him a chance but he’s just utter ****.

£65m down the drain.
That's so mean.

What if Kai is reading A-M? 😥

He was the player with the least drop from his usual standard. Doesn’t say that much in all honesty but at least it’s something

I don’t know what it is with him though. From his touches and some of his passing it’s apparent there’s a real player in there.

Posted this in the match thread and it’s pretty much the best way I know how to describe him

Did Chelsea break him completely? He just looks like an abducted child that’s lived in a cellar cage for 15 years and is now coming back into the real world

His standard is in the benthic. Not sure how much it will drop.

We wanted to kick on this season. Now we're probably gonna spend the rest of the season carrying a búm in the team when we should have signed someone who'll slot into the team right away. Smh

This was my point 🙂

Covert him into a target man, it’s the only way we are going to get any use out of him.

That leaves a problem at LCM though. Rotate between Vieira and Rice (with Partey at 6) there.

It’s annoying as we have the chance to really complete our midfield in the summer. We get the top class DM for the next 6 years. Unfortunately still need that guy to play next to Ode.

I watched the game yesterday, each time Trossard has the ball from wide, why Havertz didn't move into the box. I have a feelings Kai wasn't bad but he didn't understand how to play LCM. Why Arteta makes the thing more complicated, Kai's best position at Bayer was RCM, and at Chelsea was False9. And now Arteta asked him to play 2 roles, attack and defend.
With the game like yesterday, why Arteta didn't put Kai at CF and use his height. Vieira at RW isn't like Saka, but i think he can cross the ball. Sometime we can win if we do the simple thing.

We moan enough about Jesus and Eddie's lack of goals to even entertain playing this guy up front. That's not going to help Kai any as we'll still be equally frustrated by him.

There is a player in there.

But he is trapped below 9 levels of subconscious.

Only a crack inception-type team led by Emmanuel Eboue could extract him.

Not sure it's worth it tbh.

I don’t think even Saka can carry Havertz. He might not get physically injured but he might need a break for mental health reasons if he goes from a RHS of White/Ødegaard to Tomiyasu/Havertz.

Till this day I watch his Leverkusen clips in amazement. I can see what the club was thinking but it was too obvious of a dud which was probably encouraged by how they revitalised Xhaka's career.
