Ego with arteta, tried to make nuno a star and he kept making mistakes. He has certain players who are projects to make them a star or revive their careers, same with wilian for the later. It cost us points and it is deja vu with this signing.Someone here, and I've forgotten who unfortunately, said that this was a gamble that we did not have to make. I think that is right, but we have made the gamble. Arteta will feel he has to make it work, and he will be stubborn about it.
I can't see Havertz working as our striker, certainly not as a world class front man, capable of both holding the ball up and scoring goals. I don't think Arteta sees him like that either. It will probably be as a number 8, and I think this is a hill that Arteta might be willing to have a near death experience on. That is not to say that he cannot perform as a striker from time to time, but I do not see this as his main role in the team.
I hope we can make it work, if we do not, I think it could harm our season, quite severely. Mostly because Arteta will not admit defeat, he will persevere come hell or high water. Hopefully, it will come off, for the player, the manager, and most importantly, for the club.
