Kai Havertz: Kais and Lows

This is exactly what Mikel wanted back when he signed Rice and I think this role was his solution to the low blocks we’d face.

The original formation has 1 centre back in possession. This was a Barce tactic either late 90s or early 00s.

CB (Saliba)
White Partey Kiwior
Ode Rice
Havertz
Jesus

Havertz didn't have enough confidence or understanding to jive with the role early doors.

Ironically, Alario plays pretty similarly to Gyokeres, always trying to run in behind and battle tight marking defenders.

If we can get Kai to fire like he did there, it would actually be more important for us than getting Gyokeres to score 20 goals etc. Kai was unreal those days.

I mean let's be honest Jesus and Havertz have never been a good foil for each other. Where as Havertz and Gyokeres have combined for 3 goals already if we count Martinelli's tap in

We were kind of laughing about Mik saying Kai looks like a different player but he was right. I don't really think it was a weight lifting thing. I just think he somehow was able to level up in a hyperbolic time chamber like Goku while he was away and returned with a different level of confidence. Maybe pumping iron was the key but it just seems like he has a complete understanding of his role with the team now. Maybe Gyok arriving has raised his level of competition.

It would be nice to know how he did it but it's probably just going to be that he feels at home now and has fun playing again. He's not in his own head over thinking, he's just playing intuitively now. It just took him so long to get there.

So we can control games and progress the ball without the AM dropping deep

Ødegaard better start adapting ...

Contrary to other opinions I'd be shocked if he (Ødegaard) can replace what Zubi gives us ... nowhere near as tenacious and strong as Zubi is

I see the guys who wanted Kai to end Gyok’s career pivoting nicely

This role is what’s best for Kai, the solution isn’t to play him upfront week in week out.
And yet most people didn’t want to see him play in midfield again.

I’ve said it before Havertz behind Trossard, both playing as false nines created the greatest scoring streak in Premier League history. Now we just need him to recreate it with Gyokeres.

I commented last season that something that was seen as a negative is a positive in this team. Namely that Havertz treats the ball like a hot potato. He almost always tries to get rid of it as soon as he receives it. It is a positive because we have too many players in our team who take too many touches. It slows down our play and makes us very predictable.

In the short time he has come back he got an assist for Gyokeres against Kairat by immediately playing the pass whereas most of our players would have taken ages and the opportunity would have gone. Same for the assist today. Actually he should have got two assists today when again he quickly played a forward pass to Jesus and he was in, just a shame he couldn't stay onside (or finish the chance off for that matter). I really hope he continues this relationship with the ball and doesn't start to do fancy things as we need this as a team

Kai is getting lovin and rightly so... He is such an underrated player.Elite mentality, big game player, Incredible stamina and strength. He just makes things look so simple. He's now playing in his best position behind the striker. He had a great partnership with Volland at Leverkusen and he was only a teen at the time. If we can unlock that potential between him and Gyok then the league is in trouble.

Neither Gyok or Jesus is a target man. Kai is worse when his role to play more like a CM with coming deep/progressive passes/ball carrying/tempo setting, better when his role to play more like AM/2nd striker as off the ball mover who receive passes at dangerous positions, interchanging with CF and wingers. With Zubi, the CM duo has improved passing + ball carrying + building plays, so the AM can have less responsibility to come deep and can focus on moving into dangerous positions, thus better fit for Kai at AM. I want another Zubi like CM next season, maybe Elliot Anderson, as Kai is likely to stay and Gyok will also benefits from this.

So refreshing seeing our 10 playing quick passes into the feet of our CF, compared to Ødegaard who does about 30 turns, holds onto the ball too long then passes sideways or backwards.
His understanding and linkup with Gyokeres is brilliant and it’ll only improve with more minutes together.

Havertz has always been good for us btw, people were just desperate to hate on him when he first signed so gave him no chance. Same with Merino, it's all a popularity contest.
They go too in on the abuse early and then they don’t wanna back track.

Havertz and Merino are not world class but certainly been very important parts of our team.

Losing Merino was a big blow for me, I had a feeling that if are to win the CL, he would have some sort of say in it. So clutch.

kai as CAM made brilliant movement in final third then gave assist to gyok

i bet Ødegaard when play as CAM will not make movement like kai did in final third, ode will stay outside the box or not close with gyokeres

kai moving like a CAM in final third which is perfect give service to gyok because gyok need playmaker close with him

Havertz is not a good midfielder. He’s a good striker and the same people praising him not will turn on him when he doesn’t play well as midfielder.
