We need him scoring for the run in.

We are bad as **** but if it can encourage certain individuals, we might scrape it through.

I've said it last season and I'll say it again , he's our best striker AND best attacking midfielder at the same time, the only player who acquires stature athleticism and technique at the same time. His runs from midfield and box crashing are invaluable against low blocks. His finishing let's him down otherwise he'd an elite player

He's not even close to his best and clearly unfit and wasn't particularly good the last few games yet still managed a goal here and an assist against Southampton both through runs behind the defense.

*On a side note, I can predict that some idiots on the other thread will come round giving credit to Gyokeres for the goal for "dragging defenders" by simply standing there, he's the only player in the world who gets praised for existing.

You know Kai isn't scoring that if the Sporting defender didn't make a blunder there, right?

The guy just ran out of a defensive back line to chase Martinelli, while other defender joined to double mark Gyokeres leaving Havertz alone. Gyokeres just has that luxury to have defenders on him at all times due to his goalscoring records in the past seasons and a good shot conversion. He doesn't have to be a world beater, he is still the best CF we have.

I like Kai and I hated when our fanbase ripped him to shreds back in the day, same **** happened with Gyokeres and he doesn't deserve that backlash, neither did Kai.

But no way in hell he is scoring that goal if the Sporting defender didn't make a huge error, he just went to block Martinelli, got skipped like a highschooler skips a class and Havertz was alone.

Props for the touch and the finishing, it was class.

I still haven't gien up on the Gyokeres/Havertz combo in attack. Just need to give them more time to gel.

Havertz is one of the very few players in the squad right now who has these moments of brilliance in him and Gyokeres showed for Sweden that he still can finish.

Kai just come off in the replay. I don't think this forum likes my long posts as I'm getting lots of error messages so I'll keep it short. Weird player to rate to be honest. He's not a midfielder, but he's barely a proper forward. He really barely touched the ball vs Southampton, but he looked kinda sharp with his decision making everytime it came to him. I simply will never like him as a proper midfielder (what he was playing after Ode came out) but think he has his uses playing as a false 9 or in combo with Gyok.

Quite frankly, he's absolutely inept at many things you like your typical forwards to be good at. Poor shooting, poor dribbler, poor finishing languid playstyle. But I understand why coaches like him. He's tactically a very good player to have and he offers things that can change the individual matchups of a particular game. He's also smart and good positionally. Shouldn't be playing with players like Jesus doe, but then again you could maybe make the arguement Jesus shouldn't be playing at all.
This is one of the best descriptions of him I’ve read.

He’s somehow a pretty decent player though despite the list of cons appearing longer than the list of pros. His physical attributes + the things he’s good at does make him a coaches dream and somewhat effective on the pitch as a cog in a system. Just don’t rely on him to be the guy.

I actually think he’d have pretty decent resale value for those reasons, it’s just the wages. We have him on star player wages and that’s the only real issue I have with Kai.

Kai is a Coaches dream! Football intelligence off the charts to compensate for the awkwardness on the ball with his physical frame

He made the run and scored, why do a bunch of gymnastics to discredit. More goals than not are a result of a defensive error, nothing deep there.

Outed himself under zero pressure.

I dont think you understand what kind of species Gyokeres fans are, Havertz doesnt get credit for his run because "their defense made a blunder". Yet credits Gyokeres for literally standing because "his reputation as a goalscorer makes defenders mark him", as if their defenders would leave Nketiah unmarked free to score because he doesn't have reputation

The level of propaganda they bring for Gyokeres should be studied at CIA levels

Havertz + Gyokeres is a great combination. We have seen it a few times this year. Both players are worse off when one doesn't play.

Havertz know what Gyokeres need, while Gyokeres pulls players away to let Kai the space finder thrive.

Yesterday goal was a perfect example of it. While the Southampton and Leeds match was an example of the former situation.

We have too many pretty powderpuff midfielders who retains possession and don't have the cutting edge. I say start these 2 players as much as possible and make it like a traditional 4411 in possession.

The very point of a possession game is to force the defense to make mistakes and capitalize when they happen. You just need the players to take the initiative to throw defenses off and force those mistakes. It's the same as chess, or tennis, etc.

Martinelli did that, the defense made an error, Havertz read it well, as he often does, and took the chance. It's how it's supposed to work.

I still think it is very complicated to determine what his correct position really is, but this was purely quality.

Arsenal Quotes

When we won the league at Tottenham, they came back 2-2 in the last-minute of the game, and they're celebrating - because they're happy to draw against us, obviously. And I remember saying to Mauricio Tarricco who injured himself celebrating in front of me: "Do you realise we only need a point to be Champions?" And he was utterly shocked. So I said "Yes. Now watch as we're going to celebrate on your pitch. Bye bye!"
