Kai Havertz: Kais and Lows

I think he’s clutch, I think he’s great in the air, solid combinations, smart player, etc. He moves well for a 6’4” player as well. He’s not ridiculously slow, and he’s a solid finisher. He’s not as good a finisher as Gyokeres, but I prefer what he gives us overall. Only thing I question is his fitness currently. Theres only one striker available I’d take over him in this mold and that’s Osi (and imo, we shouldn’t deviate from this mold of striker)

We should look to extend him on reduced terms as a priority.

He’s still only 26 (27 this month), which given his style of play is still pretty young.

By all means bring in a second striker type (Alvarez, Kroupi, my wishlist signing Endrick) to play off him or instead of him.

If you want great wide players and no10 you need a big target man like him to play off.

Hes only played at least 25 league games in 1 out of the 3 seasons hes been here. 23 last season and 12 this season. I think we should probably bring in a really talented young striker that we think can play meaningful minutes with Havertz and Gyokeres as competition

I would like to keep Havertz but to be honest 350k is a f*ckload.

It's around £300k though at the moment, no? Unless you're referring to the on-going negotiations (if so then apologies). But yeah I do agree with the sentiment.

I think both Gyokeres and Havertz have their merits and I actually appreciate both players, genuinely. I say that as someone that took a long time to give Havertz his flowers, but in terms of the modern archetype of attacker he's good.

If I have to be really honest, after weighing it all up, I think if I had to keep one of the two it'd be Havertz, and then we should go out and sign young striker with potential that can deputise and eventually step up.

The sticking points are his injury record (which worries me ALOT) and his wages which I believe we're currently negotiating.

The lesser issue is his wages tbh, at least at the moment. I don't sense it's causing disharmony and as PL winners I think players like Rice will be getting a bump anyway. However with the contract negotiations, where exactly will this go? I do not think we should bump him beyond £300k if I'm being honest.

Returning to the injuries, they are an issue, a big issue. If he's going to miss half the season this isn't going to work, I don't think that's controversial to say. So we'll need to assess properly whether he'll be able to bounce back and stay fit for a whole season.

Heard that it is just a year extension and no pay raise. We may be worried for something not true (beyond 300k).
Reports say he is 275k right now, not even 300k.

Haven’t double checked these but that’s pretty poor for the outlay we have on him. His overall numbers are poor.

But we must bow down to his mystical all round game, even though we won the league with Gyok leading the line after having to sign him because Kai wasn’t reliable.

Excellent goal but his hold up play was so, so bad. Shockingly so as it’s meant to be one of his strengths yet he seemed to lose every single aerial.

I think Raya’s distribution being quite poor didn’t help him but our entire game plan kind of failed due to Kai’s inability to win the long ball.

I’m surprised that nobody else has really mentioned this, maybe because of how good the goal was but I think we’d have been better off as a team for the 90 mins if we swapped that goal for his usual level of target man ability.

This. Great goal but after that I didnt think he had a great game. If we won, would he have recieved player of the match? Dont think he would have deserved it for his overall game.

A lot of substitute players got playlyer of the match and only played a small amount of minutes but score the game winning goal, especially if it is a low scoring game.

Performance is one thing, the importance of the goal is another. NT saying he deserved it (Rice or Gabriel for me if it was 1-0), but definitely he should be consiyas well, cause players from both teams just neutralized eath other out.

Havertz /Gyok at Striker have seemed to have split AM close to down the middle. Ideally i would like to see an improvement on both of them.

A shame there wasn't some sort of alchemical formula to fuse them together. Then we'd finally have our ideal striker. But alas, human rights laws and what not. Sad. Many such cases

It’s so weird honestly. Like you said in another thread, you’d think he’s the second coming of Bergkamp according to A-M.

Kai’s been injured near on the whole season, and Gyok helps us get over the line for the first time in 22 years, but still gets sh*t 🤣 very bizarre.

Hopefully he can put the injury problems behind him, because he’s approaching his peak years as a CF.

Despite him not being a reliable finisher his G/A record up top for Arsenal and Germany is very respectable.

There are no top CF’s out there, so we need to buy as many top wingers, attacking mids and second striker types that can play off him.

I think we extend his contract.

not bad from Kai i think if Germany preform well he will be the key if they want to go far they don't have CF better than him but Wirtz Musiala and whoever start RW need to play well to
