Havertz / Ødegaard / Saka

We won the league with them starting together like once last season

But they are great together and make our attack click so thats promising

Havertz will frustrate in front of goal sometimes but he works in this team, better than watching Gyokeres play with cement in his boots anyway

Sorry I thought it was 5 and that he had 9 open play goals. Typo, my bad i meant to type 5.

Bruv you're wrong again.

14 league goals 3 of which were penalities - and in your original post I believe you were referring to the league only.

5 CL goals 1 of which was a penalty.

1 Carabao Cup goal which wasn't a penalty (I think we all remember his goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge).

Edit: Forgot his goal against Southampton in the FA Cup quarters which Havertz assisted, which ofc wasn't a penalty (tbf I've blocked out that game for obvious reasons).

Sources: statmuse for league, statmuse for CL.

Yeah I'm aware I just said that to say that I didn't mean to type 9 to exaggarate and slander in my head I thought it was 5 pen goals so it was a typo. I think my point still stands though, gyokeres doesn't score enough to offset all his big limitations. And I think Havertz has it in him to score 20 in the league as a CF if you put him on penalties and he stays fit. Even if he does not and it's more like 15 he makes the players around him better while Gyokeres does the opposite.

Makes the whole attack worth more than the sum of it's parts. Hopefully he stays fit and can carry on with his confident start.

Hmm well I think 14 league goals (3 of which were pens) and 21 goals in all comps (4 of which were pens), is a far cry from 14 league goals, 5 of which are pens (which is still in your original post btw).

As for if it's not enough to offset his limitations, well maybe not. I think we're past the point of trying to say he suits us better than Havertz, or is better than Havertz; he is not, and that's been made painfully clear.

But let's not downplay his goal contribution. Just because he's not amazing, doesn't mean we need to pile on or disregard his goal scoring record.

He can, and likely will contribute this season....definitely, it's a long season ahead.

Also his link up play isn't so bad when he's on it, he proved that in several games last season, but AM is doing this thing where everything Gyokeres does link up wise is rubbish when it's not, he's actually quite decent at link up play, but like many players not quite at the top level, he's inconsistent, and having patchy game time doesn't help his case.

Yeah fair enough, honestly my opinion last season was that he was below the level I would like to see from an attacking Arsenal player but I mostly refrained from bashing him because he is what he is technically and he was doing his best and he did contribute and had some good games here and there.
But I also think that especially against the other top 6 teams he was easily neutralized and we really missed a fit Havertz in those games, our record there was poor. But he did a good job being more of a flat track bully against the weaker teams so credit to him for that. Hopefully he can still bring some of that energy this season.

And you are right that his link up play can be allright (if he gets some space) but I think that when he is up against good defenders he is too easily overpowered and his touch makes him require more space than they give him so Havertz is a lot better against strong centre backs in my opinion.

Yeah that's completely fair.

Oof the global whinging that summer we signed him did not age well.

Probably one of our best signings in recent memory. Such a clutch player.
Been trying to tell them for years now, everyone just repeats what I say years after they called me a troll for saying it ffs.

It's the small stuff like this and his absurd work rate that makes him so valuable. Seems like many are starting to come around on him after Gyokeres joined and looked fairly pedestrian in the PL.

Obviously has his flaws, but I genuinely believe the problem was the lack of spark from the players around him, and not him personally, which is why I never subscribed to the "he's easy to upgrade on" narrative.

On another note, credit to Martinez for that save, that's a worldie.

One of his best allround performance for us. Sometimes he can be too relaxed. I love how fluid he was today. I think Saka will score loads this season with the way he interchanges positions with him. Give us 20 ish games like this, and there will be few complaints!

strange player looked so s**t against Villa today he looked like Bergkamp. easily MOTM that was some smart finish and that dummy in 2nd goal was so smart.

maybe he need to think every game is big game so he get things more seriously.

You know he has like 6 goals in his last 8 starts for us?

Arsenal Quotes

This is a big moment of happiness...we waited a long time for this and the happiness is linked sometimes with the suffering, and the time that you have to wait....this was more important than all the other (trophies) we have twice won the double, but were not under pressure then like we were today.
