Kai Havertz: Kais and Shine

No matter what, don't even think of playing Kai, Arteta.
He is not match fit and really no point to put him out there.
Jesus is available with Viktor.

Yeah.....I have to be honest in saying that I've changed my view on Havertz.

I underestimated how difficult it actually is to be an attacker that fairly consistently gets into the right positions. Then there's the fact that if you look at similar attackers (I'm thinking players like Cunha & Joao Pedro, who moved for around about similar amounts to Havertz), Kai's numbers look pretty stellar in comparison to what they've done this season (albeit we'll need to see how Havertz produces this season, once he's back).

Now, I'm fully aware this could be absence biased judgement, and Gyok hasn't lit the world on fire, and so as a natural C-O-P-E defense mechanism it's easy to latch onto Kai as our "hope".

I'm not even thinking that he'll solve everything, but I do recognise that I wrongly undervalued the player. It'll be good for him to come back and ease the pressure on Viktor (though I suppose Viktor may possibly not see it that way).

I still have hope in Gyokeres coming good, but getting Kai back will undoubtedly be a massive boost.
This has been my view all along. I wanted to try to upgrade on Havertz if possible but felt too many people underrated him. The strange thing was the number one complaint about him was he doesn't score enough but since he was put upfront his numbers have been very decent. My main issue was that people never took into consideration what role he was expected to carry out and that the way we are set up isn't ideal for the CF to get high volume of quality chances. We do create a lot of chances but mainly a lot half chances rather than big chances. This was the case the majority of the time Havertz was leading the line (there is evidence in the last few games we have finally sorted out this problem).

I have said it before but will say it again, Havertz had a horrible time just before he got injured and was crucified for this. This was unfair imo because it was no coincidence that was when all our other attackers were injured, it meant a huge burden felt on him to score as no one else would otherwise. That was too much for him as he doesn't look like the guy who plays well under that kind of pressure. Add in that he was visibly exhausted working so hard off the ball and playing every 3/4 days and no surprise that his form and body both collapsed.

It would be easier if people accepted he has his shortcomings. He won't for example dribble past 2 or 3 players and score but that doesn't mean he can't be extremely useful as part of a balanced side and is good enough to contribute in a title winning team. A lot of what he does has been woefully under rated. He has been out for so I'm not even sure how he comes back but it will probably take him time to get to where he was.

I also hope Gyok comes good and hopefully his struggles makes people be a little more patient as being a successful striker in our team takes time. We as a team need to create more big chances from open play (like we did in last few games) and play the fricking ball quicker! And our strikers need to work hard on how to utilise their particular skills to score as many goals as they can within this somewhat rigid system.

Good player, but when you are relying on a returning Havertz to help solve your scoring issues...

We have so many random goals from everywhere, I don't really care about the CF scoring from open play anymore. Can he pin the centre halves? Can he be a target man and consistently knacker his marker? Can he contribute to our indirect set piece threat? Does he understand our system and can be a part of our collective pressing? These are good enough.

Low-key he might have to wait until Jesus is off form for his return. Jesus is better than him.

Has Havertz had another setback? I saw something that said he wasn't in training today

Looks like he’s injured again. Wasn’t in any training pictures.

If it's anything it's just something precautionary is my guess, but you never know. Arsenal's injury luck is legendary.

Arsenal Quotes

In a football match anything can happen, the players, 90 minutes, fantastic moves, an element of luck, talent, courage, and touch of magic and, for those who are watching these men play, the search for excitement, for a memory, for a lesson in life.
