He’s done a lot better than I expected tbh which is how lowly I rated him. I think Arteta has done well making him look decent but he was and is a poor signing that we never should have made. He’s on world class player wages and hes taking up a spot that should be filled by someone a couple of three levels better than him. Don’t see any way we move him on either with those wages.

I will still never understand what made Mikel want to sign him, tbh.

He was poor for Chelsea really and hadn't played as a midfielder for ages, yet we are prepared to drop £65 million on him and make him our star 8 after clearing Chelsea in the league in 2023...just bizarro world this transfer.

He's a good player, but he's so boring individually...he's like that perfectly average man in that Futurama episode lol, Kai sum up how unique your talent level is...

...the fact that the majority of CFs kinda play like this now is so depressing for the sport!
Looking at this transfer now, I guess we were hoping for one of those stories where a player comes in and gets a new lease of life and starts performing at a level never seen before.

It’s fairy tale stuff and happens with like one player per window. In hindsight the chance of it happening with Havertz especially while trying to convert him to a no9 was very very low.

Chelsea fans saw him for years under different managers, some of them very good and at best they squeezed out some good periods of form.

His performances have landed in that horrible horrible place where he’s decent and will have good runs of form when the team is playing well, but ultimately he’s holding us back. Massive blocker and nobody is going to buy a decent player on superstar wages.

So...

The manager version of Havertz, meet the player version of Arteta!

...is basically how Mikel and Kai could have been introduced to eachother, ffs...no wonder they love eeachother 😅

The only thing missing is havertz getting 3 months injury, the team do worse because he is the only striker at the club. His level grows while he’s away because we missed him so much. He comes back and produce little. Then we hear about how the injury ruined him and people forgot how good he was.

We'll be there when that happens(thankfully Kai seems way more robust so hopefully not)

Would love to know if Mikel is making Havertz do this or if he's that afraid of goal. Maybe both.

Was very good when he came on. Maybe fatigue played a part in his recent performances. Replacing someone who is a net negative player also helps to look good ig

Excellent cameo after R9's successor failed to impress again.

We can improve on him for sure, but he's not bad at all.

10 goals so far this season, can't complain at his output at all.

I agree we probably need a more clinical player on the left but Kai is my man. Was so right about him when everyone here was clenching their cheeks about the signing.

We just need a quality young backup to him tbh that can grow to be better. Jesus starting ain't it..
