I thought he had a modestly better match than the total cr.p he has been. Then i looked at his match stats. 27 passes, Ode had 70, he is hiding and not showing for ball. He is on the periphery of all the successful attacks and not really involved. 19 competitive matches with Zero goals playing most of those matches at striker. 🤦‍♀️ It is hilarious Tet backers crying I don’t give Arteta credit for acquisitions. He buys like ETH or worse, he should not even be allowed to give a name. His contribution to transfers should be like this, “i want a left fullback”. Thanks now go back to the training pitch Mik

Arteta recommendations in last 3 years
Jesus Zinchenko Rice Havertz Ødegaard William Jorginho

Edu scorecard
Tavares Lokonge Viera Kiwior Tomiyasu Martinelli Marquinhous

I know which one I'll prefer.

Sure Arteta signed 3 players in January during the season you just give him credit for the good buys when it is clear from Havertz he has no idea. Other than approve the buys like any manager would at any club he did nothing for those January buys he was traveling with team and managing them

How do you know who picked who?
That Edu list is pretty terrible but if Vieira keeps delivering it starts to look a lot better I guess.

Are you telling me the young players can be a star or a bust, instead of proven older star players?

Great insight, amazing

A year back Ornstein had published an article where he mentioned that Lokonge/Tavares were Edu buys. Martinelli/Marquinhous aswell basically brazil punts.
Viera / Kiwior / Tomiyasu does not have much info but Viera also was a club punt and not a player manager requested so gave Edu credit.
Viera may turn out good actually.

I don't mind either actually but it seems clear that if a player is planned to contribute straight away then Artetas complete buyin is required. For punts club buys are ok.

So we are going to start with Arteta vs Edu here now? @Farzad you must be enjoying this :).

To me it is clear Arteta’s fingerprints are all over the dumbest buy in transfer history that i can remember, Kai Havertz. Sorry, i can’t give Arteta credit after watching him invent a new form of football buffoonery i have never witnessed before. He nought an 0 for 12 striker to make him an even bigger crap midfielder. Only one arrogant and naive fool thinks i will buy Kai, and my coaching will transform him. 7 competitive matches in he looks like tge exact same Havertz at Chelsea.

Arteta did not buy the 3 players in January while traveling and managing team, Ornstein and Athletic bob the guys knob harder than most of you guys.

Martinelli was in Arsenal before Arteta arrived.

Wow, 7 competitive matches.
It sounds like eternity.
I would expect maximum 7 minutes in Arsenal for him to become GOAT.

Oh you didn’t read excuse posts claiming Mik would transform him and Kai was bad because Chelsea was in turmoil? I read tons of those posts when we were signing him. Still waiting for those transformative powers of Mik’s coaching.

I guess we now know Kai wasn’t cr.p because Chelsea had one bad season while he was there, we now know that was nonsense PR that most of AM bought

He can still become transformative for us, not everyone here has the patience of a one legged ant. Why are you so desperate for Kai to fail?

Look, Arteta wanted him and Arteta got him, that’s true.
And if Havertz fails, it will be mostly Arteta’s fault.
But to say that he failed after 7 competitive matches is nonsense.
So far Havertz contributes defensively a lot.
What he still lacks is visible contribution in attack, goals and assists.
I am tolerant person and I will assess him at the end of the season.

Ok but he isn’t tearing it up defensively either and that was not why he was bought. Now you at least see the PR that Havertz was bad for 3 years had nothing to do with Chelsea having one bad season . Fair post, let’s just not shift the goal posts though. You can wait for 3 years, Chelsea fans did; i suppose now it’s our turn; mik volunteered us for this debacle now we all got to take it.

Tomi and Vieira were Arteta picks. Edu wanted Emerson Royal, Arteta wanted Tomi. Arteta said he was enthusiastic about wanting Vieira

Buying Havertz instead of a real 8 was puzzling and it still is. But I think there's still a chance it turns out well.
Right now Havertz in the squad feels a bit like surplus to requirement, but I still think there's a player in there that can help us and maybe make a real difference later in the season.

This is just hyperbole though when you've seen Mudryk, Antony, Caicedo, Wesley Fofana, Mount, Onana all go for the same or more in the last year who have all been equal or worse flops. Lukaku cost Chelsea way more and he barely kicked a ball.

Havertz has probably been Xhaka level with plenty of potential to top that level. He's only 24,fantastic stamina and pace to get box to box with a great first touch. He can also be stand in false 9 if we want to play him there. He needs a boost to his confidence and to grow his chemistry with the team and he'll be fine.

No it isn’t did anyone buy those guys from a rival to switch their position. Who we gave the money to is a huge factor also.

Ok name one buy where someone overpays valuation, to a direct rival, makes a 3 year flop their highest paid or near highest paid player, to switch his position. Who the hell but this bozo has ever done that? Did Barca buy Robinho after he flopped for a fortune to switch him to wingback?

Not a word of hyperbole Mik invented a new form of buffoonery in the transfer market

He still was their best goal scorer last year though. And now they can't score a goal to save their lives.

My expectation (and my hope) is that it will take a while to get that Chelsea stink out of him and unearth the player he was in Leverkusen.

No way, Chelsea were Champions of Europe and had one bad season with Havertz, Kai had 3 bad years. The Kai is bad because Chelsea is bad was a factual canard from day 1 and you have seen 7 matches of further evidence for that
