Two things become very apparent after this Night of the Long Contract Extensions:

Firstly the hierarchy of Arsenal FC has a very close relationship with Kia Joorabchian. The only logical reason to get into bed with this type of agent is to secure the services of their better players, surely? Like yes the club is badly run, but they're not actual idiots. They know that Luiz and Cedric are a bit crap, but they're in a tight spot and it's convenient. Surely the payoff is that down the line the club gets an actually good player out of it? Or maybe they are just actual idiots, or maybe they're crooks. Time will tell.

Secondly, it's apparent that the club has very little money to spend this transfer window. A club which had money would not make the sort of moves we made tonight, they were moves of necessity and desperation.

This club is going nowhere. Arteta has dug his own grave by sanctioning these buys.

Experienced players are:

Mustafi - Serial bottler
Xhaka- threw armband on the floor, adds structure but can bottle it at any moment.
Özil- just picking up his money
Auba- doesn't want to be here
Laca- in the worst form of his life
Bellerin -back from an ACL, looks like a teachers pet, shadow of himself
Sokratis- error prone8
Kola-terrible

What are our young players meant to aspire for. The moral of the dressing room must be shocking and now we are simply going the contacts route. No scouting of potential players who we could get for cheap. We are going to fall so far behind.

League is very weak
Hard to have sympathy for the club in terms of finances linked to Covid when you consider these deals were probably all agreed in January.

I think its just Edu tbh. When I saw his first pictures when we appointed him he just looked clueless already for some reason and had the feeling we might not be making a good decision here.

Honestly, in the summer apart from signing a RB and a proper CB I thought our recruitment was pretty good but these deals have just killed my enthusiasm.

Thinking long-term, giving Cedric a 4-year deal might just make sense given Kia's involvement.

One problem we currently have is in our inability to sell deadweight players. Kia's shady side might just work in our favor here, as the slimy f*ck is good at getting deals done. That may be annoying for us now, but if we no longer have need for Cedric down the line, it may be easier to offload him than it might be other players. If that's true, 4 years carries little risk to us and could be grounds to get a bit more money out of his sale.

Don’t think he’s saying anything wrong in those quotes though, Raul has obviously told him some decisions will be made soon and he’s just relaying that.

The Jorge Mendes link up at Wolves has been great for them, and it’s not like those players are being unsettled by him or moved on either, they all seem settled. Kia doesn’t have that calibre of player though.
And Kia isn't that calibre of agent either.

Doesn't that mean we have to associate with Kia for up to four years though?

Arsène knows, we sold our souls to the devil and now we’re getting what we deserve.

Out of Kia, Mendes and Raiola, we decide to work with the super agent that represents a bunch of washed up bums.

If we’re going down this route then just deal with Mendes, he’s pretty much the reason down to the success Wolves are having with the likes of Nuno, Ruben Neves etc represented by him.
