In all honesty this signing makes zero sense if we’re assessing priorities. It would mean our LW would still be a mess when Saka is back unless we’re shifting him centrally as Kubo is in the same mould as him. Lookman is a much better fit as to what we currently need as we have a lack of goals in our frontline without Saka plus we won’t be unbalanced when he returns.

Still, the amount of folk questioning his ability is staggering

Not really what we need considering the amount of natural LW options. If we’re looking for an option to give Saka a breather then fairs but not in January but even then at the fee Sociedad would demand it wouldn’t be the smartest choice.

I don't disagree but for the way we play, we kinda need someone who can do that. Not necessarily Nico Williams either, but someone who's more of a wide forward than Cunha is. All I ask is that they have good acceleration, can dribble and hit the ball well. Good close-control dribblers will take some of the heat off of the right side. Cunha isn't the worst shout but I want proper winger.

Possible. I do think Kubo's a good player - a little unsure about whether he can do the business in the PL but he's definitely a talent. I wouldn't be upset to see him join, just slightly bemused about how well he fits in beyond this season. Just concerned that LW is still looking a little weak. At least Martinelli is scoring again but his performances are still very frustrating and Trossard isn't doing much better.

Disagree- we have one left footed RW in Saka, who is injured (Nwaneri has played one game there). We have several right footed LWs - Martinelli, Trossard, Jesus, Sterling.

I agree long-term we need a game changing LW to improve on Trossard, Martinelli etc but Mbuemo would be good long term back-up, plug in and play cover for Saka in his absence.

Realistically we cannot get a LW of the requisite quality to start e.g. like a Gordon, Leao, Kvicha etc in January
