Won’t accept b*tch position

Flick has had such a crazy rise. From spending most of his time as assistant or even sporting director I believe, he landed the Bayern job, won everything bounced but then flopped hard with Germany. Has come in and now torn up La Liga and has made Barca one of the most exciting but feared sides around.

As for Yamal, have we ever seen a 17 year old as good? I'm thinking Cesc, Messi, Rooney from what I've seen but I'm not sure any have looked that good. To be a genuine Ballon d'Or contender at 17 is absolutely bonkers.

Funniest thing is we debate whether we should give Liverpool a guard of honour. Meanwhile scummy Espanyol have their fans pelter Barca players with bottles and lighters their players charge into handbags looking for fights after they lost, their captain is sent off for assaulting a minor and the sprinklers go off immediately after FT lol

And on top of this they scored 162 goals this season across La Liga, Champions League and Copa Del Rey.

Insane numbers
Plus seven goals in the Supercopa, in just two games against 4th placed Bilbao and 2nd Madrid.

Domestic double and a loss in the greatest CL semi final in the history of the competition, with the likes of retired Smoking Woj in goal and Eric Garcia and Martin starting significant matches lol. Wasn't sure how Flick's work would translate abroad but yea we ****ed up horribly not bringing him in.

The key difference I see with Barca is they have 3 players who can progress the ball very quickly once they beat first press, Pedri, de Jong and Balde, and it leaves the forwards with plenty of space to do their thing. And to be a top team you need a player to be consistently special like Yamal.

It's not an exclusively innate ability it's something that is mentally fostered and physically trained and drilled. I'll give you Pedri but Balde was talented but nowhere near this level before this season and de Jong was about to be shipped to United lol.

Your confidence goes you stop trying to beat the press, your manager tells you to take no risks the same thing happens even when he asks you to do it for once. You could even argue the other way round if you have a backline as solid as ours it leaves midfield and forwards to do their thing, or if they had Raya distributing instead of Szczesny etc. It's the system not the personnel first and foremost.

Comparing us to Barca, the thing is we only have MLS who can beat a press and accelerate through the midfield.

I actually think Zubimendi has a similar profile to de Jong, plays forward passes but we will have to see if he is dynamic enough in the PL.

Pedri is just a cheat code, the perfect midfielder who we cannot find on the market.

Hansi Flick is excellent coach.
His Bayern was joy to watch, his Barcelona is joy to watch now.
Bringing him was excellent move by Barcelona board, this shows that they are big club, financial problems don't change that.

I wanted Flick in Arsenal before he went to Barca.
I guess our board never heard about him before.

Messi barely played until he was about 19 so really just Cesc and Rooney but he’s far clear of them.

Suppose the actual answer would be Pele but apart from @Sapient Hawk none of us watched him as a teenager.

Pele of course.
He was same age as Yamal now when he won World Cup with Brazil in 1958.
He scored 2 goals in final, 3 goals in semi, 1 goal in QF.

Pelé a good shout, think he became top scorer in the Brazilian league at a similar age Yamal is now. Not fair to either to compare them as football changed massively over the last 65 years but in terms of standing out compared to their peers he's the only comparison you can make.

Nah, de Jong doesn't have to passing range of Zubimendi. De Jong excels in moving the ball to area where they can exploit the situation. His short dribble to pass his opponent creates gaps for other players to run into spaces.

Arsenal Quotes

I believe the target of anything in life should be to do it so well that it becomes an art.
When you read some books they are fantastic, the writer touches something in you that you know you would not have brought out of yourself. He makes you discover something interesting in your life.
If you are living like an animal, what is the point of living? What makes daily life interesting is that we try to transform it to something that is close to art. And football is like that.
