Agreed, but the real issue is that Barcelona is, in a way, encouraging this behaviour. Just look at the Ballon d’Or ceremony; he had no business being in the top three,
Best player at a double winning team who were a hair's breadth from reaching the CL final, best player for the strongest national team in the world and he has no business being in the top 3?

Some yer da take this. Reminds me of when PL customers kept pissing on Neymar and claiming Hazard was better than him

I get taht you're clearly biased towards Barca.

He wasn’t even among the top three goal scorers at the club last season. Seems like you’ve got a bit of short-term memory loss as you’re clearly forgetting Raphinha and his numbers across both the league and the UCL and I'm not even considering Lewa even though he scored 40+ goals.

Yamal is a great player, but there’s no way he was the best at Barça last season and the way he is going he will stink up any place.

My bias team of Spain, but I just can’t stand Yamal. He’s got tons of talent, but his entourage will hold him back from reaching true greatness. Wish Messi was still around to mentor this kid.

Every time I watched Hujisen, I just think it's a bullet dodged. So raw and so rash.

Mosquera is a much better value buy at the same stage
He is dead to me once he decided to represent Spain instead of The Netherlands.

big win for real madrid they have 5 points gap 27 points from 30 not sure why Madrid fans not convinced by Xabi these Madrid fans must be the most spoiled f**kers in whole footballing world.

your team lost one game from like 13 games all competition and you crying? and Xabi just took over most managers would struggle.
Any manager would struggle if their three best players are natural left wingers, while Alonso’s preferred formation doesn’t even use one.

Agreed, but the real issue is that Barcelona is, in a way, encouraging this behaviour. Just look at the Ballon d’Or ceremony; he had no business being in the top three, yet the club was actively promoting him as the rightful winner. They should be helping him stay grounded, but instead, they’re feeding the hype. Messi, for all his fame, remained level-headed. This guy, on the other hand, is fast becoming his own worst enemy.

I had him winning the Ballon d’Or personally because he’s clearly the best player in the world.

Mbappe and Salah should’ve been second and third imo.

He wasn't even clearly the best player on his own team last season. There's a difference between being the best talent and the best player. Raphinha and Pedri were both more influential for them last season.

If you’re looking at football on a spreadsheet sure but watching the games there was no doubt.

Guy was an absolute demon. He’s on another level to everyone.

If you're watching games then Pedri is their best player and it's not close. The difference between Pedri being in that team and not is night and day. He did not deserve that award over Dembele because everyone knows that award is 99% of the time going to go to the person who won the biggest trophy on offer unless they put up a season so far above and beyond what everyone else did that you have to give it to them like Messi and CR7. d

I also think he’s the best player in the world. The hate the kid is getting is beyond sick. People are so desperate to humble him

I knew he wasn’t going to win but it’s still a ridiculous awarding system that they have.

If England won that penalty shoot out with Italy there’s a very high chance there’d have been a Mason Mount or Reece James Ballon d’Or win…

It's their award so they're entitled for their system to be what they want it to be. Any time you have a subjective award there are going to be people unhappy with the outcome. The reality is that if people didn't put the Ballon d'Or on a pedestal then it wouldn't have the prestige that it has. We can only go by the criteria they list:

Screenshot_27-10-2025_132645_www.beinsports.com.jpeg

PSG had an objectively more successful season than Barca, that's not up for debate. Dembele had more decisive moments in his team's more successful season and a considerably more impactful CL campaign that what Lamine Yamal had. Raphinha was their catalyst in that competition anyway.

As for the sportsmanship and class bit, that's something that is so subjective that I can't call it so I won't even make that comparison. The reality is that Dembele better fit the criteria last season than Yamal did. You can like Yamal more as a player but you can't say that they didn't follow their own criteria here.

Where I take issue with the Ballon d'Or is in periods where this criteria seemingly wasn't adhered to like when Nedved was gifted a Ballon D'Or for losing a CL final he got suspended for over Henry who had the better individual and team season.

Not biased towards Barca I just hate Madrid, but either way I watched them plenty last season.

Between him and Pedri and given how badly they struggled with Yamal out I'd give it to him. Raphinha did very well but there's no way he was more important or better than Yamal, he's only posting his numbers because of Lamine whereas the other way around it doesn't matter who he's playing with he'll always be ridiculous.

I feel like you’ve answered your own point there with the Nedved - Henry example.

It’s an individual award in a sport where more often than not the best team wins.

I’m one of those people who always felt that Messi/Ronaldo winning it for 10 years straight (should’ve been 13 or 14) was the right decision even when Barcelona had a diabolical season but Messi still won for 2012.

Question I’d ask is do you think PSG would have never won the CL if Dembele was out? I’d argue they’d still probably have won.

I haven't answered any question. I've literally just outlined their criteria to you and you're arguing it with me rather than them lmao.

As to the Dembele statement, of course they don't win it without him. He was the poster child of their transformation. He led their press, he scored the most goals, his role as the false 9 made them fluid and a nightmare to mark. Hell if you want to simply look at our matches against them, his movement had us as lost defensively as we've been in about 3 years along with of course his early goal to put them ahead in the tie.

I think it's more than a bit silly to be upset Yamal didn't win when he wasn't even the most influential player in his team and then speculate that the most influential player in the team that objectively had the better season somehow didn't contribute enough that his absence would have changed the result but you are the same person who rates Sorloth so I maybe shouldn't be surprised.

He was great after Christmas and woeful before it. Didn’t even need to start their second leg against us and he’s indispensable to their success?

Had a red hot six month stretch that still included an injury injury break ffs. What are we doing here?

Unreal, say what you will about Mbappe but he is absolutely destroying it at Madrid. In a season and a little change he already has 55 goals in all comps for Madrid. They going to win La Liga this season Barca is just too open god bless Hansi Flick but he plays too free; why I don’t see them winning in CL or La Liga.
