Leandro Trossard: Tross The Process

Started off brilliantly, then post PSG was very poor. Had his good moments yesterday in particular that sublime pass to Havertz for the assist.

Hopefully he can find some consistency (Martinelli too who has been less patchy than Trossard but more hit and miss).

Trossard is 6 years older than Martinelli and was brought in as a ready made squad player? Martinelli also has like twice the upside because of his physical ability.

Bit of a weird comparison. The Saka/Martinelli duo genuinely looked like future world beaters a few years ago and sadly only one of them really kicked on, I find it hard to fault people for getting excited whenever the other part of that duo starts showing some promise again. If Martinelli had shown even slight improvement from his impressive 22/23 season you would've probably won the league last season.

Trossard is a good player who is doing what he was brought in to do, but I don't see why people should get excited by it when we all know the expiration date on him is coming up relatively soon with no room for improvement, whereas Martinelli had (has, maybe) the potential to be the solution to your LW problem for the better part of a decade.

I can call it today saying Martinelli will be more or less the same player in 6 years, just like Oxlade C, Walcott, and many others

That's fine, but for this season alone I think he should start all games on the left when other options are Martinelli and Sterling. 100% we are getting a new player there next summer

He is a squad player. He has scored crucial goals the last two seasons, that should be all that is expected of him at this point in his career. Good option off the bench against tired legs, can potential start games in the league cup and FA cup.

I randomly watched our FA Cup game against City from two years ago, it was one of Trossard's first games for us (maybe even his debut?). Anyway, he was really dangerous and surprisingly quick.
