Leandro Trossard: Tross The Process

Think he could start easily tbh, especially this season - but politics.
That’s what I didn’t get when Arteta was constantly starting Neketiah this season.

You have a much better option sitting on the bench for the false 9 position, getting Saka and Martinelli much closer to the goal. Yet we persisted with playing Nketiah as a centre forward with Saka and Martinelli stuck out wide being a non entity getting chalk on their boots.

Literally did not make any sense, even moreso when you consider our best form in 2023 was around Feb/March when Trossard came in again and played false 9 enabling Martinelli to be a threat again where Neketiah basically killed it.

Let's not forget that Trossard started the season poorly despite his form from preseason. Eddie took his chance and Arteta persisted until the wheels came off. Now Trossard is in the driving seat until his form tapers off or Jesus comes back.

In fairness to him, he was playing out wide where the game tends to pass him by.

Up front he has a lot more freedom to get involved in the game and link with both Saka and Martinelli

No, he was up front against Fulham. Then he got hooked, Eddie scored the equaliser and Trossard was forced out wide in subsequent matches. Anyway, I don't think Trossard's performance today was anything special or meant Saka and Martinelli “got more space”.

Watch the games mate next time when Nketiah is playing CF and our attack is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

We need dynamism, energy and link up from our centre forward for our wingers to play well. None of which Nketiah provides.

Can finish, can pass, can dribble, can hold the ball in tight pockets.

Jesus & Trossard levels of quality relative to Nketiah is miles.

He has found some form in the past couple of games. Play him until this form drops off, which it inevitably will.

Guys like nketiah and trossard are not starters for a complete season, they can both be very up and down.

Spot on. Eddie despite what A-M will tell you took his chances and gave Arteta reasons to persist when he helped rescue a point against Fulham and SU hattrick.

I don’t buy the narrative that certain players play better without Nketiah because like Sheffield United showed, the state of the opposition has more to do with these guy’s performances sometimes.

When Jesus is back I’d rather even see Trossard at LCM/LAM over the likes of Havertz/Vieira. The one player who could pull a proper Santi Cazorla in our midfield.

This is more what I was referring to when I said it’s mostly politics that’s stopping him from starting.

Guys like Nketiah are never starters for a club like Arsenal.

Arteta is all about control, he would think Trossard is a defensive liability and will not start him there. Anti-Football instead of Sexy Football.

Trossard, Jesus, Zinchenko, Ødegaard these are technical players in the middle of the park and then you got physical specimens like Martinelli, Saka and Rice to cover all that. In bigger matches it is OK to use Tomiyasu instead of Zinchenko, Rice-Jorginho double pivot too or Havertz CF for the height, in lesser matches at home... no way.

And that right thing to do or we'll be conceding chances for fun. Playing Trossard LCM when he very dangerous in opposition box is waste of time.

He played there in pre-season a bit and pretty much scored each time. We should definitely consider him for that role.

Maybe

You're wrong, no?
Just came here to say hi to all arsenal-mania experts who were saying he should be on the bench as some sort of an impact sub who can't perform from the start.

Enjoy watching Havertz and Jorginho starting games once Jesus is back

Saka has assisted his every goal, what’s that saying? They have a good connection, but maybe we are lacking creativity elsewhere.

He's been very inconsistent this season but his last two games have been positive.

Think Saka is someone who targets an area when crossing while Martinelli is hoping for the best without too much thought into what he is doing. Trossard is smart enough to attack the right area and for what Martinelli is doing you can't really say where the cross will land.

As for the rest, we definitely need +1 baller in midfield to help with creativity, which Havertz definitely isn't
