Leandro Trossard: Tross The Process

He's been very inconsistent this season but his last two games have been positive.

All his good moments in the PL have come from the bench so it was good to see him have a very solid game as a starter, particularly at CF.

He has found some form in the past couple of games. Play him until this form drops off, which it inevitably will.

Guys like nketiah and trossard are not starters for a complete season, they can both be very up and down.

Cmon now. Again being compared to bums like Nketiah and Havertz 🙄

Look at the goals he’s scored and created since joining. He’s so often the difference maker when something extra is required. He’s elite imo

Don't think he's been any more inconsistent than any other of our front players, but he does seem to get fewer chances to play himself into form.

Yes, his status in the squad seems to be hard wired rather than based on anything he's shown or not shown to date.

I think if he was 23 years old he'd be a nailed on starter as many inside and outside the club would assume further progress.

Saka has assisted his every goal, what’s that saying? They have a good connection, but maybe we are lacking creativity elsewhere.

Nah we've got a guy running with the ball alongside the opponent FB and then crossing it to no one constantly. That's brilliant creativity.

Yeah agree with this, he did get a start and was hooked at half-time. I have also been a little disappointed with a few of his sub appearances.

I do really like him, just this season not sure he's clicked as much as last, had injury troubles as well.

You're wrong, no?

What progress would that be? think he is a complete player and wouldn't expect much development even if he was 23.

All we need to do is stop pushing him wide as he gets older and use him in the middle, something we did with Cazorla before

If Jesus is back, I definitely want to try trossard in midfield, especially when playing not so physical teams like burnley. Might not suit for all games though.

Don't ask me, U23 and performing for a prem club is highly regarded. Martinelli offers genuine pace, but outside of that the only thing he has over Trossard for me is upside.

All we need to do is stop pushing him wide as he gets older and use him in the middle, something we did with Cazorla before

Initially I could see why he wasn't first choice there and it's because defensively Trossard is lacking and not intense enough.

Compared to Fabio and Havertz (yes I am aware of the duels) their defensive contributions are actually quite poor - so I no longer don't see a reason to not try him there. So yes, I agree - but politics. Arteta has a 65 mil signing to justify.

Probably one of the issues we have at the club. They’re too fixated on a set of starting players developing over a period of time rather than just opting for something that can benefit us right now. A few of the latter blended in with the former wouldn’t do us no harm.

Seems like that and the outlay are possibly the only reasons why Havertz is getting game time too.

He's very good to watch when he's on it, arguably our best in that regard. I'd be happy if we found a way to have him starting more often than not, I think that would help him get a level of consistency as well.

Helps having him involved in central areas with a license to drift so CF or even LCM would be good options to have.

Against weaker sides you probably could get away with Trossard at LCM.

He is good but he does lack a bit of engine / physicality which would concern me.

Even out wide there are quite a lot of times per match that he slows down our attacks, he doesn't shift the ball quickly and it can be frustrating. You don't get that much time in the centre of the park.

For me he's an ideal squad player. Not good enough to start in any one position when everyone is fit but a really good back up in a couple of positions.

I get it though, with how expensive world class players are you are forced to bet on upside everytime.

Him not starting because we have Martinelli (one of the most promising left wingers in the world) and Jesus (one of the best false 9s in the world) is fair enough, that's proper competition.

But playing Havertz and Nketiah over him is a bit of a pisstake, tbh...Leo occasionally has a shocker when starting, but gets dropped after one bad game which isn't really fair...especially with how poor Kai and Eddie have been at times without getting benched (Nkietah has been the better of those two so far, but still not good enough to be starting as much as he does for a Champions League team)

Trossard is class and not that far away from peak Jesus' level with on form as an attacker, in his prime too and should be treated as such.

Completely agree but don't think he's a winger tbh, hasn't got that brutal pace of a Martinelli. Excellent as a utility forward and that seems to be his squad role.

I knew from the start he would be a really good squad / pushing starting XI type of player. He's just so good in adapting his level to it's team mates.

Very good against low block, LCM or ST should not be a problem for him in these matches. In a match full of pace and transitions and box-to-box runs he may struggle but then you have some other players.
