Good news United aren’t serious.

Last summer was the first one where they signed legit players in Sesko, Cunha and Mbuemo.

I was thinking they’d be going for guys like Tonali, Bruno ect but they didn’t have the stomach to go for them.

I was thinking they’d replicate the Mbuemo and Cunha strategy from last summer but for the midfield.

They obviously didn’t have the stomach to compete with Sp**s and City for these types of guys so I think have reverted to type, by signing guys no one else wants.

You can't read that much into international football though. Vieira was a back up in 1998 because the manager preferred the certainty Deschamps and Petit brought. This Santos player has had very limited minutes. The manager can't be certain on how good he is or not. And I'm not sure how good he is either. But 10 goals and 3 assists as a 21yo in ligue 1 playing from midfield isn't bad.

Aren't United tightening the wages of new signings? Tchouameni is on something near £360,000 or thereabouts.

I can't imagine they'll be able to entice Tchouameni with a "You've got a guaranteed first team spot but you'll have to take a paycut to join us" pitch
