Yeah it’s off. The club found a long term meniscus injury during his medical and cooled interest, Santos was signed then. So we’re in the market again. I think the Tielemans signing shows how clueless the media are about our targets, which is good news. I imagine we’ll just pop up with our “marquee” signing.

I would be fuming if we would get Tielemans as a starting option. Good enough for Villa, but nowhere near good enough to play for a team that competes on all fronts.

To be fair most of the Man Utd fans I talk to in real life don't think they are anywhere near ready to compete on all fronts.

Most seem happy with a period of top 4 stability and build from there, he should be a decent pick up if that is the objective.

I was always a fan of Tielemans and wanted him on a free when you got him. But at the age of 29 on a long term deal, it isn't going to be good news for them in 2 years time.

United also don't have any defensive ball winners in that midfield or anyone with a real engine.

He certainly improves us but when your rivals are breaking records signing Elliot Anderson, or losing targets like Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, or they already have world-class midfielders like Rice, we are already playing catch-up and it's pretty underwhelming in comparison. A Youri Tielemans at the tail end of his career and injury prone really feels like we cannot challenge any of the better teams. I do like the business side of it but I really do hope we have a marquee signing in us.

Honestly hard to say rumour-wise, all the sources have been so far off what we've been doing and found out late we are signing Santos and Tielemans.

Unlikely to be Guimarães, expect it to be a younger profile like Sangaré, Baleba or Koné.
